KY has a long history of talented teams(some nationally ranked) that didn't make it out of their region. Off the top of my head University Heights with Lamont Barnes,Isiah Victor,& Harold Swanagan. Ballard with Brandon Bender & the Chiles kid. I believe Paducah Tilghman may have been nationally ranked in the 90's and not made it to the Sweet 16. I'm sure there are others. Trinity will have to fight like heck to make it out of the 7th Region. Don't forget Eastern and Ballard have multiple D1 level talents on their teams. Then once a team gets to the Sweet 16 you have a whole different fight on your hands. KY is one state where 90% of the time you just never know who's going to win it all.

 

Holmes in '10 with Ricardo Johnson, Jeremiah Johnson, and Elijah Pittman.

 

Ricardo and Pittman were preseason top 100 players nationally and coming off a state championship the year before. That team had ridiculous length and size. I think they had 8 players 6'3 or bigger that year.

While Trinity might be everyone's choice, remember Newport Central Catholic beat Trinity at the end of last year, at Trinity, on Senior night, ending long home court winning streak. Reason that is important..... many feel this years NCC team is better than last year. NCC has just as much back as Trinity. Time will tell.

 

No way NCC is as good as last year's team. That team had serious length in the front court with 6'6 Weyer, 6'7 McDonald, and 6'8 Schulte. Also had a very good 2 guard in Tanner Moeves, who could've played high D2 ball but chose to stay local and play at Thomas More. They lost a D1 signee and a kid with small D1 looks and D2 offers off that team.

 

They are still very good this year, but I'd take last year's team by around 10 over this year's team. Last year's team was probably one of the best ever in the 9th region to not make it to Rupp.

Not even ten games into the season and we see our first reverse psychology thread.

 

I am assuming we have all seen several state tournaments in Kentucky to know that ANYONE can be beat in the region or sweet sixteen. Yes, Trinity has a very, very nice team but we have seen that many times over the years. Can Trinity win it all,,,,certainly,,,,,can they be beat,,,,,certainly.

I don't think T is playing Cincy St.X.
