Augusta 76 Nicholas County 67

Featured Replies

Final from Carlisle. Don't have any stats just end of quarter scores per Facebook post from someone attending the game.

1st Nicholas 22 Augusta 12

2nd Nicholas 41 Augusta 32

3rd Augusta 53 Nicholas 51

4th Augusta 76 Nicholas 57

Looks like Coach Hinson and the Panthers made the right adjustments at the half and prevailed out scoring The Blue Jackets 44-26 in the second half. Augusta keeps the undefeated season alive at 6-0 while Nicholas Co falls to 0-4.

40-0!

They are going into a tough stretch in their schedule Harrison and Scott this month along with some good teams in the tournament at Lloyd. While 40-0 sounds good. I think they can potentially have a 20 win season. I'm real interested in seeing how they math up with Scott and Harrison. That may give us a gauge on how they fair against bigger programs. :thumb:

Conner Maddox with a career high 29 points in the victory per a Twitter post.

Last year they started off 8-0 and ended up with 20 wins.

I forgot my "facetious smiley".:lol2:

That being said, I am happy for the Panthers' early-season success.

Nicholas gets no calls at home. Augusta outscores Nicholas at the FT line by nine with 17 attempts and NC with only 6 attempts....the difference in the game. Nicholas showed it has at least three who can score double digits (Newton, Duncan, and Trussell) and if they can get one more inside, they will keep improving and finish with wins. Nicholas has played GRC, Harrison (keeping Thompson to season-low 17 pts.), loses to one of the top 5 12th Region teams in Danville, and now has an undefeated Augusta on the ropes tonight. Augusta defeats RC, SG, St. P, and is 6-0. Need to see what they do when their schedule gets tougher soon.

Coach Newton had his team prepped and ready with best first half performance since his arrival. He made adjustments too in the second half. Fell behind and fought back. This Bluejacket team should be peaking at the right time as they get more scoring to go with Tyler Newton. It's still early for NC.

When you let Maddox get 29 and Snapp 21 then you didn't have a very good game plan. Augusta's big 3 getting 61 total pts will win them a lot of games.

Thanks for the info. It's nice to hear the Nicholas point of view. I agree with the potential of NC. I thought last season they were playing their best basketball at the end of the season. With the core of last yr. team returning NC should have a good season. They started off with this season with some tough teams but I feel they will find their identity and learn their roles and will give teams a challenge night in and night out. Might take a little time but they will get there. :thumb:

We'll see you tomorrow night...should be a fun one.

Hats off to Augusta and their second half effort. Love to see a rematch in the All A, but it would have to be in the finals. It was obvious by their interaction before and after the game that Coach Hinson and Coach Newton have mutual respect for each other and their teams. Fun game to watch.
