2014 6-A All "Super District" 1st & Honorable Mention Teams

Featured Replies

Interesting. Out of 29 athletes selected...

10 are from Manual

11 are from Male

5 are from Trinity

3 are from St. X

On the honorable mention you have 17 athletes

3 from Manual

3 from Male

6 from Trinity

5 from St. X

So the combined totals make it 46 players

13 from Manual

14 from Male

11 from Trinity

8 from St. X

Interesting, if this list is any indication it seems that Beatty was not exaggerating when he said that he didn't have any real D1 prospects on his team. Though, the good number of honorable mentions does suggest that he fields a strong team if not the most talented.

Male was very strong this year, and I've got to wonder how much of that strength they will be returning next year. If other teams don't watch out the Bulldogs are very capable of dominating the season.

Also, it's a shame that Manual always seems to get outshone despite the strength they bring to the table. One of the reasons I'd like to see these teams all in different districts is so we could see how far Manual could get without H, X, or T in the way. It seems like a lot of people undervalue them in comparison to the rest of the state.

St. X did an amazing job this year considering that it looks like they were short on talent. Only 3 athletes chosen, and one of them was a punter. Still, one can never count out X. Even in a bad year they are no pushover.

Thanks for breaking this down. It is very interesting. The main loss for Male and their issue for next season is at QB. Trinity and St. Xavier will rely heavily on talented juniors performing at QB in 2015.

It's important to note that each coach can nominate any of his players he wished but could not vote for his own players.

Also with all the talent Male and Manual appear to have had how in the world did neither of them make it past the 2nd round?

They lost to Trinity and X in round 2. Somebody was going to lose.

all this tells me is two of the coaches in the district are choosing not to vote for a particular school's kids...please tell me you guys are not that naive..."talent" is probably not the word that comes to mind...I'm not saying that the other school's kids can't play, but the best front 7 in the state has two of those kids selected to the all-district team...TWO! what a joke...

I thought this was voted on by all the HS Head Coaches in Louisville, not just by the ones in the district. If I'm wrong feel free to correct me, though.

If that were the case there could still be bias (just on a larger scale), but the excellent front seven could also be a function of 'the whole is greater than the sum of its parts' rather than pure individual ability.

Only district coaches vote for all-district teams.

This is correct, congrats to those who were mentioned but I am more interested in the media selected All State teams

The All State team selection process has just as many issues. Congrats to all those named.

Good point, every kid on there is very deserving, I just feel like Trinity should have a few more, esp on D, guess I'm just a little biased, lol

I agree...but you guys proved it on the field and got the ultimate prize.

So who do you think had the best front 7?
