The only independent in Pike County is Pikeville.

Right and a little further Belfry is one of 5 high schools in the Pike Co School System.

 

Plus Belfry is not even an incorporated town, just a community. We have no tax base and definitely not our own school district.

Sounds like you know more about it than I, so I would imagine you are right. I never looked that deeply into it, I just assumed that if I'm paying for everything else the county taxes, I must be paying their school taxes also.

This sounds like an interesting stat. However, what % of the population in KY meets this criteria? Given how the state boundaries are drawn, I suspect it is a pretty high %. Only major city outside of this criteria is Lexington, right?
