Not surprising to me either, but I know a lot of people sure hasn't given Corbin ANY credit this year. The Redounds are good, but never got any credit on here this season.

You know who it is before you even read this article. Region II has been the playground of the Louisville Central Yellowjackets since the move to a six-class system in 2007, with the Jackets (6-4) from West Chestnut Street winning six straight regional titles before falling to Wayne County last season. This year’s edition has four losses to top caliber 6A teams in Manual, Lafayette, St. Xavier, and Pleasure Ridge Park, but has yet to lose a game within the class. Both Elizabethtown (7-3) and Henry County (7-3) have rebounded well after a couple subpar seasons, but the Panthers and Wildcats seem a distant runner-up to Central.

 

If the Yellowjackets are to be eliminated from the playoffs before the State semi-finals, it will likely come at the hands of one of two traditional powers from southeast Kentucky. Corbin (9-1) won their 29th district championship this season, but first since 2010, under new head coach Justin Haddix. The title was clinched by virtue of a 21-20 overtime win over recent stumbling block Bell County (8-2). The Bobcats chose to go for two in overtime and came up short against the Redhounds, giving Corbin home-field advantage throughout the postseason. Bell County has seen their last three seasons end at the hands of Louisville Central and would have to win in the Derby City this season to keep up their quest for a third state title. Corbin has three state titles, but none since 1982.

I thought maybe Les was talking about the prediction thread, so I went there to look and found no smoking gun:

Corbin is much bigger, stronger, and has more depth with nearly 80 players but Central has better athletes. It depends on who wants it more. I think that Corbin's D will be the deciding factor.

Should be a hard hitting battle and I see it as a toss-up.

 

If Corbin protects the football I lean towards them.

 

If Corbin puts it on the ground I lean towards Central.

 

Considering Corbin hasn't been the best at protecting the ball...

Corbin was ranked fairly the entire season. They were not real good early in the year, but improved weekly and moved up accordingly.

I think the same thing. They were playing very good ball as the year went along and played good ball tonight. Obviously just didn't get over the hump.

I have seen a lot of games over the years, and try to be unbiased, but have never seen certain members of a crew take over a game like tonight. It was obvious, even to the neutral fans.

This is coming from a true Redhound fan. So, dawing from the responses in this thread, it is obvious that Les was completely off base with his accusation.

 

Was Les just being a big cry baby or does he just have no idea what he is talking about? :sssh:
