Beechwood 46 Frankfort 21

Featured Replies

I have to say one thing CoachBuckett has always had class when it came to Beechwood and over the years I scouted for Beechwood treated me with respect when we were in Frankfort. Now CONGRATS to Coach Rash, coaches, players, cheerleaders and fans good luck next week and lets get that monkey off your back and beat Mayfield. JD

Great game. Great game plan. Defense gets caught on the edges now and then.. Not sure if they are getting caught in a different stunt or scheme on those plays??? All around solid effort. No one thought Frankfort would roll over and quit....and they didnt. Great effort by those players...fans, not so much. Its a shame that a few of them could not take getting beat with out blaming the refs, field, our fans, the weather....etc. LOL.

Oline and Dline dominated in my opinion. Solid play from linebackers. Stringer running with purpose and with Stokes and Studer...it is a great combo. Cant say enough about Combs, McKown, Etler, Overstreet, Bright, Hamilton, Mahoney and Stokes for the job done in the trenches...They will all need to play their BEST game next week.

I'm curious if the kicking game could hurt Beechwood. Sounded like too many missed xtra pts and could be a concern in a close game.

What was their complaint about the field? At least their seats weren't about to fall down!

I wouldn't put it on the kicker this week. I think this is the first game back for Studer on XP.

The first snap was behind him and he had trouble catching it. Normally Joe gets that catch and at least gets the ball down. I don't think he had played a down in the game prior to the XP.

The second one had a ball infraction on the center (which was never explained by the ref) so it ended up being from 15 (25 yd FG equivalent). It was also behind studer and he did get it down. Kick went wide left. Would have made it from the original position.

The paper reported the 3rd as a kick but it was actually a conversion try that failed.

I'm sure they get it all together this week.

The kicker has been solid on extra points all year and has 3 field goals. I think he has only missed one field goal attempt but I am not sure about that. He has a decent leg. If they had to try a 35 yard field goal to win a game, it is better than 50/50 that he would make it. If he missed, it would not be short. His kickoffs generally go to the 10 with some air under them when they choose to kick it that way. If he hits it good, it goes to the 5. I think he even had 1 or 2 go into the end zone in the air.

Ice on the walkway and steps....it was salted, but still slick. I think it was an isolated group. Mostly sour grapes I think....and that BW paid off the refs...lol

Hats off to the Tigers! You have a top notch program and it starts at the top with Coach Rash. Coach Rash is a class act.

Day started tough for the Panthers because the lost a defensive line starter for breaking team rules. Which made a thin Dline really thin.

BW did exactly what the Panthers expected and feared the most and that was line up double tight and run right at the Panthers all night. Panthers didn't have enough up front to et a stop. They forced 2 punts all night and one punt was a fake for a first down. The big play early in the game.

Second big play was second series the Panthers threw a pick in a screen pass in BW end of the field.

Frankfort being down 10 at half felt they in a good spot because they got the ball back first after half. Plan was to score and hopefully force the Tigers to change game plan and throw more. Couple of times the Tigers got in the shotgun they pressured the QB. Any way the Panthers threw another pick after half in BW was set up in their side the field again. They took advantage again.

Panthers had to many turnovers and not enough stops.

Very proud of the effort of the Panthers. The senior class has a great group of kids and the program is better because of them.

Only thing I hate the most is the team Frankfort took to Lincoln County in week zero is not the same team they took to Beechwood. Wished those two teams could have played. Who knows what would have happened.

Best of luck to Coach Rash and those Tigers. Great group of young men.

As noted by another poster earlier, Frankfort is well coached, hard nosed and physical, all things you want your team to be. They never rolled over, they just kept coming back during the game. Hats off to the Frankfort staff, those young men are always prepared. I'm not sure who they have coming back, but I am sure they will do what they always do, reload. If things work out the way they should, the tigers will be making the journey to the capital city next year for the regional championship. Congratulations on a great year, hope to see you all same time next year.

There was ice all over the stands. Don't know if it couldn't melt off of aluminum very well. salt and aluminum really don't go well together. Glad the staff focus on getting the snow off the field though!

Beechwood did pay the refs. They were the home team!

Actually these two teams starting next year won't meet until the Semi-finals. frankfort is changing districts and will be in district 2 next year.

Are you sure about that? I posted the alignment below. Assuming KHSAA does the same playoff set up as past 4 years. District 1vs2, 3vs4, 5vs6, 7vs8 would face each other in first rounds playoffs.

Class 1A

District 1 – Crittenden County, Fulton City, Fulton County, Russellville

District 2 –Bethlehem, Campbellsville, Caverna, Fort Knox

District 3 – Eminence, Frankfort, Holy Cross (Louisville), Kentucky Country Day

District 4 – Beechwood, Bellevue, Dayton, Ludlow

District 5 – Berea, Bishop Brossart, Bracken County, Nicholas County, Paris

District 6 – Fairview, Paintsville, Raceland

District 7 – Harlan, Lynn Camp, Pineville, Williamsburg

District 8 – Hazard, Jenkins, Phelps, Pikeville, South Floyd

MY apologies I mis-read the info.

Big district change though. Have some decent competition in that new district.

Yes going to be a little tougher for Frankfort next season going to be a lot of changes with the team.

I didn't hear any complaints was a little slippery at first then salt worked out that problem...Though Refs were good. What did the Beechwood fans think of #52 Hunter Conway heard his name a lot and only a Sophmore. proud of the kid.
