Highlands senior Alex Veneman set a Northern Kentucky record for most

receiving yards in a season during his team's 30-15 win over Ashland Blazer

on Friday in a Class 4A playoff game.

 

Veneman caught six passes for 107 yards to raise his season total to 1,418

yards. The previous local record for most receiving yards in a season was 1,386 set by Highlands wide receiver Brett Hamblen in 2000.

 

Veneman also set a local record for most pass receptions in a season with 79. He surpassed Mike Setters of Ryle, who had 77 pass receptions in the 1999 season.

 

The local record for most touchdown receptions in a season is 27 by Hamblen and the state record is 28. Veneman has caught 20 TD passes this season.

Great job by Alex...keep up the hard work but remember those numbers mean absolutely nothing unless you have reached the teams goals

His height is what hurts him with getting looks. Hope someone takes a chance on him, good speed and good hands, runs nice routes.
