Veneman caught six passes for 107 yards to raise his season total to 1,418 yards. The previous local record for most receiving yards in a season was 1,386 set by Highlands wide receiver Brett Hamblen in 2000. Veneman also set a local record for most pass receptions in a season with 79. He surpassed Mike Setters of Ryle, who had 77 pass receptions in the 1999 season. The local record for most touchdown receptions in a season is 27 by Hamblen and the state record is 28. Veneman has caught 20 TD passes this season.
