The Bellevue Tigers (7-4) travel to Capital City for the second round of the Class A playoffs to taken on the Frankfort High Panthers (9-2). These two teams are starting to make it an annual event of playing each other in the second round of the playoffs. These two teams have met 4 teams since the six class system started with Frankfort having a 3-1 advantage. Frankfort’s only loss to the Tigers was in 2009 when Bellevue defeat Frankfort 29-26.

This season the Tigers continued with their pass happy offense racking up 384 points so far this season. They have been led by their QB Tate Grainger who has thrown for 2606 yards and 33 touchdowns. His favorite target this season has been Wide receiver Zach Barrett who has caught 13 touchdowns and has 951 yards receiving.

Frankfort on the other hand has been more of a run first team this season being led by Jalen Washington who has rushed for 1131 yards and has another 353 yards receiving. Jalen also leads the Panthers in scoring with 24 touchdowns.

They have a pair of common opponents:

• Bellevue 61 – Eminence 0 – round 1

• Bellevue 61 – Dayton 0

• Frankfort 48 – Dayton 0 - round 1

• Frankfort 73 – Eminence 0

These two team also was play a close hard fought game. Who wins a date in the Regional Final?

Frankfort High in my opinion has a better team and has to many weapons for Bellevue to stop.

2009 was great game between these two teams. Yes - the game was decided by a matter of an inch.

Bellevue is always a phyical hard hitting team.

These are two hard nosed, punch you right in the face teams, one thing is for sure the young men on both teams will leave it all on the field of play. I look for Frankfort to win by 17.

Panthers by 14 in this one. Speed!

Few facts about Frankfort and Bellevue. Outside of the current series these two teams only met on two other times.

First meeting was 1966 Frankfort beat Bellevue 21-19.

Second meeting was in 1977 for the State Title, Bellevue won that game 21-0.

Frankfort leads the overall series 4-2.

Bellevue season ends....
