This program needs more time to acclimated to winning. Its still under going the culture change of being a winning program. Most of the talent on this team are juniors. Give them next year and I bet there in a district championship hunt.

I agree somewhat but Woolley has also been blessed with some of the finest football facilities in NKY and also gifted with perhaps the weakest schedule the past two years that the school has known in recent history. I don't think its unfair to question exactly how much water the "winning record" truly holds.

Again though, this is just the third full season with the new facilities... They opened in the middle of the 2010 season. This years junior class will be the first class to have the benefit of those facilities for all 4 years. And Scott's schedule has always been somewhat weak littered with 1 and 2a teams. They did play SK and Dixie over the years, but those games were typically thrashings and helped keep the program down. The schedule they've played the last two years has helped keep interest high, and at least gotten them on the map.

 

Next year is the big year. Tougher schedule...Dixie, SK, NCC are on the non district slate. Returning almost every key starter. Improved depth with many of this years freshman class (a class that could win their second consecutive championship next week) ready to step in and contribute next year. Moving into 4a, and into a weaker district that at first glance they'll be favored to win (although Bourbon County may have something to say about that). This was an important year to keep momentum going which they've done. In July, no one expected much with the huge loss of seniors. The last 3 years they've done what they've needed to do to put the program in a better spot. Next year they DO have to make some hay and show significant progress. There will be huge expectations on them next year, and if the don't improve, then maybe you do have to ask if they are heading in the right direction. But even still, this program was terrible for 30 years. Now people are getting upset and questioning direction after a 7-4 season last year followed by another .500 or better record this year??

Dan Woolley is a fine coach and teacher. Yes Scott has great facilities and the schedule is right were it should be for the state of the program. In all actuality when the schedules were made Holy Cross had just won a state championship. And Holmes was around a .500 football team that beat Scott. The biggest accomplishment Woolley and his staff has done is off the field. They got kids to buy in on the fact that this program can win.

I think 4A will be a perfect fit for Scott next year. With CCH and HHS moving up to 5A, Scott should really have a great shot at winning their district next year.
