I ask, yet AGAIN, where has ANYONE said ANYTHING negative about Hilton? EVERYONE's contention here is with TAYLOR Co. as a program and the general attitude towards football in that community, with mostly specific respects to some of the wildly optimistic comparative allusions regarding these and the surrounding programs. LaRue is arguably a better job as that the facilities are better as is the football tradition.

 

Adair is a much better job RIGHT NOW and will remain so for the next two years.

 

Then it depends on what you call Central KY...if you count Lexington, the Pulaski schools and the Hardin Co. schools, then it almost becomes too many to name.

Raider, I have not meant to offend. I have said that Taylor can and will be a good job. It like Green/Adair/Garrard all have similar athletes and can compete. When you have a head coach like Hilton he knows what not to do. That in itself makes Taylor a better program. Coach Graves is probably a decent coach, but never won at Adair or Taylor. He as a coach until the last couple of years played dodgeball except for district games. That in itself hurt the players from getting better.

As a program since 2003 Taylor County is ranked #170 in KY. Over a 10 year span you kind of are who you are if you know what I mean? There are only 221 football schools listed.

Excellent is what I'd consider Nelson County, John Hardin, E-town, Central Hardin.

 

The big white indoor building at LaRue fools a bunch of people. For starters, half of that is for the wrestling team. Their locker rooms. Showers. Coaches offices and practice area. The back half was built for baseball (It was built & donated by a former baseball parent, netted all around the sides and the ceiling with drop down batting cages. That old front porch green carpet inside. Nice, no doubt, but Football gets the use of that at a minimum). After Christmas-Spring, it's wrestling, baseball/softball 24/7 in there. The fall outdoor sports of Soccer and Football get to use it sparingly when weather is bad of course. Their stadium is 60 years old & when you look at it across the field, it does the wave. They have a field house that was built some 40 years ago that houses the MS and HS, along with a weightroom that's probably 800 - 1,000 square feet at the most.

 

Talking about Hart County, it's a shame their admin doesnt put more into their set up, because they potentially have one of the nicest stadium set ups on that I-65 corridor between Louisville and BG. Their stadium looks like a mini EKU (matter of fact, it was designed to a T from it), it also doubles as the Baseball pressbox. The admin there just flat out doesn't put any money into it. I know for a fact that a local turf guy offered to take care of their field for free, and one of the higher ups didn't allow it for fear of "well, that's not fair to baseball, softball, etc."

 

Green has a heck of set up. There may not be a better natural playing surface in the state, and that includes the likes of Danville/Mayfield, etc who are known for theirs. Their onesided stadium on their home hill side is a prestige scene. The brand new weightroom they built a few years back will rival anybody's. You aren't going to find a better man or coach than Chris Engstrand, he proved that at Henry County and this year they have just absolutely been decimated by injuries while being sophomore and junior dominated to begin with. They will be fine and then some in years to come.

 

Taylor's facilities are better than most think. I know they had a new metal frame building to house their weight room back around the time Graves was hired. Not sure about new equipment, but they definitely have a newer and bigger area. The same company out of Campbellsville that takes care of Green County's (Hords), takes care of their game and practice fields. Stadium wise, it's probably the biggest in that entire area (Green, Adair, LaRue, Campbellsville, Hart, etc). Matter of fact, I know it is (in terms of seating capacity. Hart County's is the one that takes the top spot in the look test though).

 

Adair built a new field/stadium about 8 years ago and it's a perfect little setting. Hord's takes care of their field (tip top shape) and there isn't a track around their field either, so the crowd is right on top of you. Their stadium isn't too big and not to small. It's just right. It's a good atmosphere as is, but this year it's great and will be for the next two years at least. When they built the new stadium/field, they also built a new locker room/coaches offices. Their weightroom is in the basement of the school, off of the gym, and it's sharp. The equipment isn't new. Standard, but a bunch of it and I know for a fact that the Super there signed off on the new rubber flooring all throughout it just this past summer. I'd be willing to bet it's 2,500 square feet or more. It's not all weightroom, though. Half of it is a wide open area for mat room/speed agility drills. Good set up.

 

You said it about demographics. Those that deny that impact are living in wonder land.

Hart has great facilities and should be a good starting point in generating some interest from student/athletes, but I was over there in the spring for a baseball game and it looked like someone needed to crank up the weed eater. Campbellsville is continuously improving their facilities and will be moving to the field behind Middle School in future, with them Superintendent, Principal, AD are all in to athletics, and I am sure they will do a great job with these new facilities. Green if I am not mistaken was just recently done by past coaching staff with the help of past players that had not previously had anywhere to lift weights. Larue has a good set-up but needs some retrofitting. I think Taylor is going to build new when new school is built. Adair also has a good set-up and it seems their coaching staff puts in a lot of time with the facilities, field, etc, little league.
