Soccerforlife, what is your definition of an assist?

The NCAA publishes a statisticians manual feel free to look it up. :)

Folks let's please remember this thread was all about who wins and why. Having said that I have watched a few of Scott's matches this year. And I will certainly agree Mr. Morgan is an outstanding player however that's not what this thread was about. But if everyone is going there then ok here goes. From what I’ve seen Scott tends to focus a lot on their two big forwards that's fine depending on who they play. What will help them in the post season is their ability to play as one unit. Please someone correct me I don't believe those forwards get the ball without a player like Mr. Morgan or others on their team. This team does have a lot of talented players the key is them all working togather and putting the team goals first and their goals second.

I believe if they figure out how to play togather, how to be patient and work the entire field there will be more opportunities for those forwards and other players as well. Yes a win is great however a team WIN is truly AWESOME...

JUST SAYIN..

I agree with most of what you said otb84.. Scott did have some fairly tough competition, but remember they scored 20 goals and probably lots of assists against Calvary Christian and Pendleton. That really bumps up the stats...

Of those 20 goals Morgan booked 3 assists.

I am more than happy to answer a few of your questions. I have never had issues with saying who I am. I keep the stats for Scott. A student kept them last year and they were never turned into KHSAA. Before that the Coach (not our current coaching staff) kept them and he inflated them as has been mentioned on here. Before that coach I kept stats for the team. I have played the game, coached the game, and been a licensed referee. I do not show bias and I will not award anything that isn’t earned feel free to ask any or all of the boys. If there is a question about a stat it is discussed between me and the coaching staff. On a side note Morgan earned 16 assists last year that were recorded by the student keeping stats but as I mentioned were never turned into KHSAA.

I was not talking specifically about you, just parents in general keeping stats. I'm sure you do a fine job.

I'd remind you that the thread was in fact about Campbell/Scott and who would win and that is what was being discussed until someone had to start tooting the horn of a certain player, giving his stats, etc. He (or his stats) was never mentioned in the thread until that point.

I wonder if Ballow's goal described in post #4 of the CCH v SK thread should have been awarded an assist. It appears it was. If he passed it to himself playing it over the charging keeper I'm not sure I would have awarded one. Maybe one of the CCH stats checkers can look into it for us.

Sorry... almost any thread on the boys side if it goes long enough will eventually morph into a Scott, CCH (or more likely) Scott-CCH thread....

I am familiar with the statisticians manual, that's why I asked you what your definition is.

No. He wasn't awarded an assist on that goal. Litzler had the assist on that one.

Yep, the horn-tootin seems to get the hackles up! :)

Groinpull.

Sorry didn't mean to offend you I wasn't calling you out here. I was just being as nice as I could.

Campbell County 1-0.

1. Campbell County will play some tough defense on Scott.

2. I like Campbell County's goalie.

3. Need to get the thread back on track. :lol2:

Thanks Hoops.

No. He wasn't awarded an assist on that goal. Litzler had the assist on that one. I think OTB84 was doing the stats that night.

Ah... I thought that if the shooter had to beat a defender before shooting that it was scored without an assist. I knew Ballow didn't get his own assist... I guess keeping stats is as much art as science.

I think it will be 4-2... curiously I think that will be both the card count as well as the goal count.

4-2 to Campbell Co?
