Terrible conditions to play in even on turf....which does not drain well, add in wind and the cold rain. Beechwood left 3 TD's on the field in the first half...maybe into the 3rd because of turnovers. It was good to get the JV some reps because their game was ultimately cancelled at Conner for today. I dont think you will see Studer again until the New Cath game....maybe playoffs. I believe BW wanted the running clock early, but when they didnt get it, changed plans for the major subs and JV to get some valuable reps...in the bad weather. JMO

Bellevue does not play freshman or JV. Bellevue had 14 players that could safely play in the game at the end of the game. Just a FYI.

In response to comments above:

 

1. Studer walked off the field on his own but was limping. He did not reenter the game and was on crutches after the game. Since he walked off on his own, speculation would be that it isn't serious but you never know.

 

2. Undoubtedly Beechwood went for 2 to try and get the running clock early in the second quarter. Late in the game, there was only a quarter or so left so they didn't bother trying to get the running clock. The rain was very light by then and both teams were basically running clock anyway playing power I football and running it every play.

 

3. Beechwood's first team defense did not play in the second half. At one point, they did bring in a couple of seniors who start on offensive line at DT to stop a Bellevue drive, which they did. Most of the first team offense stayed on the field till the last TD to maintain possession and run clock.

 

4. No, there were no penalties thrown on the JV offense to stop TD's. Bellevue still had much of their first team defense in the game and they stopped Beechwood's JV offense. Bellevue only has about 25 players on their roster so it is understandable that some of their starters stay on the field the whole game.

 

Good to know Rash still takes TD's away from the kids he claims to love so much. Sometimes their 1st HS touchdown. SHEESH!

4. Bellevue had 22 players dressed. I would say 15 or so get regular playing time. There were about 4-5 kids that only got in on the bellevue kickoffs in the 4th quarter.

 

I was a little disturbed that Bellevue kept their starting lineup in the entire game. Later in the 4th quarter the BW JV subs were playing. Bellevue's #19, 20, 22 all run hard. Does Bellevue play a froshmore schedule? Who are the back for that game? They should have been in the game at that point. I think BW had all sophomores and 1 freshman in the game at that point.

 

 

Seriously? Come on now...they can hardly get 20 kids to dress and you are disturbed? If BW JV subs cant handle the Bellevue 1st Teamers then there is a problem at BW. Dont they practice against the BW 1st teamers all week?

Hate to break it to you but not every kid on BW football team is a stud or even athletic! Some don't weigh much over 100lbs. IMO there should be games or times in games when like talent is on the field vs each other. Under 2 minutes to go and running wishbone with fully developed seniors vs some in this group is a mismatch. How do those 4-5 guys at the bottom of Bellevue's roster get field time to get better?

 

I think BW and most teams don't hit during the week. Certainly no tackling. Everything is skill development and run through the plays.

Puts hair on their chest. I remember being a freshman and having to practice against 1st Team Varsity when I played.....A long time ago though.

 

What else do you want them to do? They are limited on bodies.

Beechwood rolls on. I really am not seeing anything that gets in the way till Frankfort. New Cath is looking like a win right now with the way each team is playing. I know you can never count either team out in that rivalry, but I will certainly take my chances with the Tigers.

 

It would be a HUGE upset if NewCath wins this year. They just don't have the lines to compete w/ Beechwood. Moore is really good, but after that they will struggle.
