Cats' Pause 8th Region Preview

Wow! I MAY be open to discussion with 2 and 3, but I'm not sure I'd buy it. But you are WAAAAAYYYYYY wrong about replacing Dossett. I'm not trying to put the young lady down at all. Her time is coming, just not quite ready to crown her miss 8th...even in a down year.

Nothing against Dossett, but IMO Niece is a better overall player

I've seen her play a lot, she is good but I didn't think she was the best player on Scott's team last year.

Completely disagree with you on this one. We will see how much Scott misses Niece this year.

I know for a fact that Ally has been invited down to Lexington for Big Blue Madness. That in itself should say something about her talent. How many of those other girls will be there?

She is a good player and getting some publicity, but you cannot discount the ones that are there. They are very good as well and I don't just look at the ones that get invited to camps as success. A lot of that is the exposure they got while playing in the summer and going to other camps. Heck, Michael Jordon was cut from his high school team. He turned out to be pretty good. If you haven't seen the others play, it would be tough to say she's better. No one is saying she's not a great player, but again, her time is coming.

Wow! Okay, we'll agree to disagree. So when you say overall player, you are talking about "a team player" too right. That's part of being a good overall player right? Not saying Neace isn't, but when you say "overall player", then I would definitely lean towards Dossett...and she's not even a bball player!!! It's her side job! And Ison is a beast, so I wouldn't be too quick to say she is better than her either.

I have no idea how much they will miss her other than I know some of the Scott parents and listening on here...I can tell you they are VERY excited about the season this year and in their words "getting back to playing team basketball".

As far as Scott, I watched them play at the Thomas More camp. Most of the big teams were there and I think they went 5 and 1. I watched a lot of teams play that week and could be off a game. So I think Scott will be ok.

It's so hard to give an opinion about a young lady and her talent level, production or potential! There is a fine line on saying anything about another persons daughter because of the sensitivity of the subject vs. that of a young mans! I think it can be more acceptable to have an argument like Bolden or Hatton who's better and honestly break that down but it just doesn't feel the same when it comes to young ladies.

So did anyone get a copy of 9th Region?

I will grant you she should be one of the top players in the region and the region is down. I would say the rankings were done before she enrolled at SK. With that being said she is a very good young player with a bright future, but right now Dossett is the better player IMO and especially all around. At this point in her career Neace is more of a scoring guard not a PG. She is very good at that and has plenty of time to improve in other areas. As far as all around that hands down goes to Dossett. She's the main scorer, a primary ball handler, leading rebounder, main post presence and guards the best post or athlete. In saying this she still has room for improvement. I haven't seen ALL of that on a varsity level from Neace yet. Granted I have not watched her this summer I'm basing this on last year. As the season fast approaches I will have a better opinion.

No offense taken, it's all good.

I'm not sure that will be a fair assessment. I hear you but you have to also realize the scheduling is much much tougher this year than the previous years. A lot more larger and traditional better teams on their schedule than in the prior years. I think Scott may struggle some this year but I think they would have even if she stayed on board.

Serious side....Congratulations to her. She sounds like a dandy with lots of potential. Hopefully she can turn the interest into an offer in the years ahead, if that is what her dream and desire is.

Joking side....She better keep working hard, some of those "other girls" teams and coaches who all have to settle for Big Blue on TV, they just might have enough to make things tough on her from time to time :D

Another really nice player in the region that is not mentioned is Abby VanZant, a guard from South Oldham. I was very impressed with her last year. Anyone else on here familiar with her? If I have the name/player correct, I think she would belong on the top ten player list.

She is developing into a nice player. My daughter had some workouts with her over the summer. Also, no one should rule out Oldham and South Oldham in the 8th. I'm sure by the time we hit the district tourneys, one or both will have things figured out.
