theguru Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 1. DeSales vs. Fort Knox 2. Caldwell County vs. Green County 3. Christian Academy-Louisville vs. #4 Bardstown 4. Bardstown at #3 Christian Academy-Louisville 5. Owensboro Catholic vs. Todd County Central 6. Murray vs. Ballard Memorial 7. Middlesboro at Union (VA) 8. Danville vs. 1A Campbellsville 9. Glasgow vs. 6A Seneca 10. Prestonsburg at 1A #7 Hazard
ATLCat Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 I think Pburg is heavily under rated. #7 looks like the best fit for them. Glasgow I don't think belongs. Their wins have some nice names... but this year are bad teams. The teams they have beat are a combined 5-25.

Jumper_Dad Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 I wish Caldwell Co. would have played someone decent to give us a feel for how go they are or aren't. By the time they play Mayfield, both teams will be making excuses for not going all out that game as they get healthy for the playoffs. I wish they would have played last week.
Jumper_Dad Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Only 2 teams in the top 10 out of the East...and I don't think either will make it to Bowling Green.
ATLCat Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Yeah but they've won them...who would you replace Glasgow with? Pburg for starters... Push Danville and Middlebsoro ahead.. I think Newport has a better claim than Glasgow even at 2-3. Same for LCA at 3-2 with losses to a pair of Top 5 teams. NewCath may be 1-4, but I think they would be the automatic favorite over Glasgow on a neutral field.
ATLCat Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Only 2 teams in the top 10 out of the East...and I don't think either will make it to Bowling Green. I think you are selling Pburg really short. That's a good football team who was potentially a 1 yard penalty away from being the only team to beat Pikeville. As of right now I think Pburg is the team to beat in the East after returning nearly everyone from the team who pushed your Briarjumpers to the limit last year.
jessepinkman Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Bardstown is overrated. OCath should be above them. I would put OCath at #4, Murray #5, and Prestonsburg #6.
EQUUS GREVYI Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Okay, are we avoiding the elephant in the room? Or, literally, the elephant not in the room? Who doesn't think NCC is one of the 10 best 2A schools in the state? If NCC were scheduled to play any of the teams from 5-10 on the list, who do you think would be favored? I know they were 0-4 prior to district play, but are we making a poll on records or who you think the best teams are? Jumper Dad says "only 2 teams from the east and he doubts either one will be in Bowling Green". Why's that?

I'm guessing, and polls generally are, a snapshot of where you currently are weighted w/ where you started. Had NewCath crushed Lloyd, I would think that they would be in the Top 10, but a 28-0 win, while solid, doesn't wipe out the deficincies of the first 4 games. That being said, we all know where it will end up.

I got no problem with these rankings, I like the Breds "laying in the weeds". This Top 10 should be posted in the locker room as a form of motivation for the team. I don't see them losing another game in the regular season, with the exception of the season finale against Beechwood, which is ALWAYS a great game that could go either way. The road to Bowling Green in the East always runs through NewCath, and I don't see that changing this year as well.

Even with their current win/loss record NewCath will be a team to be reckoned with in the 2A playoffs.
Lawnboy13 Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 I agree with this. Even with their current win/loss record NewCath will be a team to be reckoned with in the 2A playoffs. Been like that the last two years, and look where it got them.

I may very well be, but until I see someone beat NCC in November I'll not pick against them in 2A. P'Burg did push Somerset last year, but that team (Somerset) wasn't a powerhouse either.
