Was reading another thread and something struck me.........

For all the newbies coming over to the dark side, that may know the soccer rules on the field......let's list some of the unwritten rules......

I will go first........

Fans should sit from the 50 yard line to the goal post......on the side that your team is on.....

if you happen to be on the side of the field, intermingled with the other fans...but on their side......be quiet and take it......do not argue or get up and storm off..........

here comes some others......

If your heralded team gets beat by a lowly team from NKY dont just blow it off as a bad night for your team. Or refer to the style of play as something that will not work going forward.

I can't even understand the written rules .....wait is that extra time stuff a written rule or unwritten rule??.......so I'm not ready for unwritten rules.

How about: Games that are tied end in a tie.......unless we feel like it is important to determine a winner then we will do Overtime......until we really need a winner then we will do PKs.

#4........empty water bottles filled with rocks are rec-league.......

I think you're trying to fool us. If a water bottle was filled with rocks it wouldn't be empty... :smug:

You gotta get up purty early in the morning...

#5 When on a hypothetical soccer forum, don't talk about the sins of the opponent's team (yellow cards, red cards, dirty play) when your team has plenty of its own sins to account for. :sarcastic:

What do you suppose the chances are of this one being observed?

Saw in the US vs Germany World Cup game when Clint Dempsey was hurt a German kicked the ball out of bounds during the game to allow him to rest. After Dempsey was removed from the field, USA kicks the ball back to Germany.

I guess this is an unwritten courtesy thing? Anyways, really cool to see the respect both teams had for one another on the biggest stage in the world.
