I read that there were reports of someone with a gun, according to the police chief. That was one reason they were scanning the crowd with their guns. He told them to stop and to use binoculars. I'm sure you won't believe that because it comes from the police side. Perhaps if the trustworthy media reported it you might believe it.

Completely ignored the question I asked. Maybe the news crews shouldn't put themselves in an untenable position. When police give the order to disperse, it includes everyone. Again, personal responsibility. I don't question tactics. I don't know what all the police were seeing. Don't know what intel they had. I wasn't there. Neither were you. I won't rely on a one sided news report with edited video to form my opinion. From the videos I saw, there were not many peaceful protesters.

But I think some of you are confusing the non violent protests during the day with the rioting at night. The pointing of the sniper rifle at the crowd was during the day and a peaceful protest when no rioting was taken place.

I have a laser on one of my pistols (night time home security) and the laser is useless over 5 to 10 feet outside in daylight? If they were pointing the guns it may have been because they were using the optics to observe the crowd, which I think someone pointed out was quickly stopped and they started using binoculars.

The situation was inflamed by the looters from the start. As far as what purpose does painting the crowd with a laser sight serve, none. It wasn't necessary. It was dumb and the cop should be reprimanded for it.
