Dalton and Bengals Reach Agreement

Featured Replies

I'll wait for details, I have to think that Dalton's has much less guaranteed money than Flacco's.

No doubt. People are misguided and simply looking at the total $ and years. The key is guaranteed money. Just 2-3 weeks ago the Bengals publicly said they were using the Kaepernick deal as a guide/starting point. I can't imagine Dalton's deal is too dissimilar to Kaep's.

Who in here thinks Dalton is as good as Joe Flacco? Flacco not only won a playoff game in every year in his first 5 years but also won a SB and he is making $20 mill a year, Dalton who hasn't won anything is making $19 mill a year. Makes no sense to me.

The one thing with Flacco is that he honestly had Dalton like numbers his first few years in the playoffs. He was pretty bad even in the games they won. They won many playoff games despite of him and not because of him during his first few years in the playoffs. Now obviously he played amazing during their Super Bowl run though. Which obviously is something Dalton hasn't done haha.

That was Flacco's 4th season, right?

Just sayin'...

The main differnce is Flacco didn't lose games in the playoffs, you can't say the same about Dalton. Also Flacco had 4 TD's and 7 INT's after his first 3 years in the postseason, and not only did he have more TD's than Dalton but in that same time frame he had 4 playoff wins already in his first 3 years. So don't try and say Flacco was similar to Dalton. Shoot it took Andy 3 years to finally throw a TD pass in the post season, Flacco did that in his first.

If Dalton was simply a game manager I'd be happy, but he can't even do that right.

Actually those of us upset that he got a new contract now are more upset with the timing. The Bengals should have waited until after the season. Let Dalton prove he deserves a new contract this year and if he falls flat on his face again in the post season and takes the rest of the teaam down with him as usual then let him go, let the AJ McCarron era start.

AJ McCarron is Andy Dalton 2.0.

I like the pick (more so because of his ridiculously hot wife), but let's not act like he's some sure thing. Guy was a 5th round pick for a reason.

I hope Dalton does the unthinkable and takes us all the way to the Super Bowl this year, but anything short of that he will have to live with the bashing a bit longer. But then again, if I were him, I wouldn't care how much bashing I got as long as I had $115 million dollars to fall back on.

His wife is a first rounder in our eyes :) We don't have the Bengals success to fall back on so the least you can give us is a lot of camera time during games of his wife :) Even more reason not to be a season ticket holder, at least at home we can get some nice shots of her during the games.

@ProFootballTalk: Actual base value of Andy Dalton extension is six years, $96 million, per league source. Escalators can push it higher.

Getting Andy Dalton details. He gets $12M to sign and a $5M roster bonus in three days. More info coming at PFT.

I wouldn't day Flacco was exactly a game manager either if he look at his numbers.

Flacco's first year in the playoffs won 2 games but his overall numbers were only 1 touchdown and 3 interceptions, QBR 32, QB Rating 50 and completion percentage of 43%.

2nd year he won a playoff game by throwing only 10 passes because of how well his run game and defense was. His numbers in those 2 playoff games that year was 0 touchdowns and 3 interceptions, a QBR average of 17.9 and a QB rating of 39, and a completion percentage of 53.

So through his first two years Flacco had 6 interceptions and only one touchdown. He wasn't even being a game manager, he was pretty much a bad QB but they won still despite of him.

Flacco's third year he did finally have a good playoff game though against the Chiefs, then followed by a bad one again. So through 3 years he did win playoff games, but was pretty bad and wasn't even a true game manager in those wins he was just bad besides one game.

Dalton still was even worst though sadly lol, but Flacco did have the benefit of the rest of the team stepping up to win despite of him.

In short Flacco is better, but I don't think Flacco is that much higher than Dalton. If some of the numbers coming out are true, I think the Bengals are in better shape than the money the Ravens gave up for Flacco.

That is a very good point! :D

@RapSheet: #Bengals QB Andy dalton signed a 6-year, $96M extension today, per source who has seen it. Can make up to $115M. $17M guaranteed

$17M guaranteed total? Like over 6 years?

That's what it says. :idunno:

^That's ridiculously team-friendly. Not sure how anyone could be upset if that's really the guaranteed money.
