Do they? If there aren't taking Federal money how can they be dictated what food to serve in a private school? I think that's why there has been such of a hubbub over the lunches at the school the President's daughters go to compared to public school lunches.

 

If they can dictate to Private schools then Highlands wouldn't be able to change the menu either just because they opted out of taking money for lunch.

I attended Catholic school the majority of grade and have always been told lunches are a different budget from the rest of the school. Although I guess this could vary from school to school. I remember in grade school every once in a while a certain meal we would have regularly would be different (and much worse). I was young so I could have easily misunderstood but it was something along the lines of the government does provide relief to private schools but it is much less. They said the different lunches were from them, at least I think. Private high schools, at least the ones I am familiar with, do receive some money from the government for students on reduced lunch prices. I know Cov. Cath. has had to change up some of their lunches just like much of the public schools over the past few years.

:lol2::lol2: Not too bad an uphill. Walked to school every day of my 12 years, rain, snow, sleet, heat. Never thought anything of it, that's just the way it was. No hot potato but when it was REAL cold I used to run to keep warm on the way home.

I would assume that private schools that cater (for lack of a better word) to students with disabilities receive federal funds. A school for the blind, for example, could get money for braille books and other tools for learning. Again, I am assuming here; I do not know for sure.

It varies by state. In KY, I have been told very little (to none) state money goes to private school. In Ohio, they do receive some money for textbooks I believe. I would have to believe federally, the amount of money is probably extremely small, if any, that goes to private schools outside of the reduced lunch program. But I am not completely sure how it all works.
