16th Region Draw

Featured Replies

semis-Mar. 13 finals-mar. 14

West Carter did not win the draw by drawing Raceland. They won the draw because they will not be forced to face the other two top teams on straight nights...

Since you mentioned WC... Coach Perry continues to be quoted as pointing out that the last time West met Rose Hill, the Lady Comets were playing their 4th game in 5 days. Just a small thing...but let me remind folks that on that night the Lady Royals were doing the same.

Now Himmelfarb, you know how much Coach Perry has complained about what little depth she has this year...You know you all are much deeper so that many games that close together wouldn't affect the Lady Royals as much...:D :sssh:

Fleming 1 and out. Why does the Fleming administration keep putting up with Coach Orems antics. She cant win the big ones

Well I don't know much about Coach Orems, but to judge her on drawing Rose Hill is unfair! Pat Summitt would have a hard time beating them in the 16th Region! They are the favorites, and Fleming Co. did beat Russell this season which is a really BIG WIN!! in 16th Region Girls Basketball. They are always talented and well coached!

If Russell is able to get Rose Hill in some early foul trouble I think they beat them.

If ANYONE gets Rose Hill in early foul trouble they can be beat. That's their achillies heel, an extremely shallow bench. Rose Hill is best when they take the game to the other team...but that agressiveness can get them in foul trouble.

That's funny, I thought this website was their achilles heel.;)

I tend to agree, but even when E.Queen got in early foul trouble in the district final, Laura Terry was faaaaaantastic. I know that you can't expect that every night, bet she more than picked up the slack. IMO, they MUST get better play out of Kala Faulkner. 2 for her last 312 threes or so and WAY too many turnovers, especially in transition. She ended up with 20 points in the final over Boyd, and to her credit, she plays terrific defense. I just feel that if they can roll on all cylinders ( and not get in early foul trouble) you can come and see them in DIDDLE!;)

There is no doubt that Rose Hill is the favorite. Does anyone besides me think that the long layoff between the first round game and the semifinals probably hurts the teams. I just think that long periods of time between games this time of year leads to teams going stale. Most players are sick of practicing and it makes it hard on the coach to keep everything fresh. What does everyone else think?

Well, everyone seemed to say what a struggle it was at the all-A when you have to play so many in a row without rest. So my guess would be that rest is best.

West Carter did not win the draw by drawing Raceland. They won the draw because they will not be forced to face the other two top teams on straight nights. Both Rose Hill and Russell will have to beat both of the other top three teams on straight nights to get to Bowling Green. Therefore, since one of the three will win the region, the draw clearly was a big win for West Carter. No slight whatsoever intended at Raceland.

The semifinals are a week from Monday and the championship is the next

night.

I see your point now.:thumb: I'm sure Rose Hill or Russell would have prefered to be there to. That is an objective statement. (FOR ONCE!);)
