I've seen a lot of posts that Moore doesn't have a passing game, if all your looking at is stats, then yes, it would look that he doesn't but have you seen his passing attempts stats? If you were a coach and your quarterback is dominate on the read option and the opposing team has no answer for it then why would you change your game plan? They don't need to pass the ball as much...This kid has a cannon and is accurate, no offence to his receivers but I've seen a lot of deep balls dropped that were catchable. You can't always just look at stats and make a judgment on a player, a look in person would be a more accurate judgment

To be fair, I've seen him and his passing attempts. I said it before and I will say it again. His sophomore year he broke onto the scene as a big strong armed QB who could make just about all the throws and his ceiling was sky high and his future looked very bright if he made some improvements. Then his junior year came and the improvements we all hoped he would of made to reach the next level of QB's wasn't there and actually once teams knew what to look at he actually looked like he took a step backwards. This year he started off trying to prove all the critics wrong and was throwing a lot and it didn't work out as great as we all would have hoped. CCH game was ugly for instance.

 

He went back to being an option read QB and his biggest success has been his running and that would open up the passing game and he was successful again but only because he was throwing maybe 10-15 times a game instead of 30-40 times a game. Now with that said, I will tell you what I found to be some issues with Moore and what he does really really well as a QB and a passing QB.

 

We all know he is a great runner.

His problems I saw last year and the same this year at the beginning of the season (I haven't seen him since week 4) He would have a very bad habit of locking on his primary receiver and would not go through his progressions. That was disappointing knowing how good Dixie's O-Line is and knowing they give him plenty of time yet he still didn't go through his progressions. If his primary was covered he either 1. forced the ball into the receiver or 2. threw the ball away. This has always been my only knock on the kid and that was it would take him too long to start using his check downs. He would also take half the game it seemed before he started looking comfortable. Once he was comfortable it was a totally different QB imo. Now he can make every throw with his arm and arm strength. That has never changed. Unfortunatley because he really hasn't progressed as much as I would have loved to see from his sophomore year he is not one of the top 3 this year in my opinion.

I already knew he had an arm. I also already stated that in here. Not sure what you mean? His arm strength has never been questioned.

Couple things...I agree with drops with by his receivers, but I would never label him an accurate QB. I only saw one game and he missed WIDE open receivers by a lot!! Yes, just one game, but I can watch his feet and know that he will never be considered accurate until his fundamentals are sharpened up. Not an attack on him at all. Great talent! But I agree he is not a QB at the next level. We call him a QB now because he's Dixie's best athlete and they happened to play him at QB.

 

He is a top athlete, but not in Hoge's league at QB. That doesn't mean he's not a D1 football kid. Like UKfan says, probably a receiver or RB.

Moore was one of the most accurate passers I seen at Ohio State football camp in the summer, I think his passing game is overlooked by his rushing attack and the opposing team having no answer for the read option. We will see what happens in the playoffs, I think their going to have to have a successful passing game to go deep in the playoffs. Looking forward to next Friday night.

Again, let me say how much I enjoy watching Drew play. I'll also say again he's the most dynamic playmaker we've seen in quite a while. A dynamite weapon.

 

With that, he's not a passer above the D3 level in college. Bad mechanics. Accuracy issues. Does have a really strong arm with an easy delivery. He can play D1 QB at a school that is committed to the wishbone or needs a QB who is run first. Deceiving speed. Great instincts. Not sure who has to follow him next year but they have HUGE shoes to fill.

 

I'll be rooting for him the rest of the season.

I heard he is being recruitted as an athlete. Probably will end up a wide receiver in college.
