November 21, 20196 yr Time to revisit. While eBay policies seem to inexorably tighten the screws on sellers, I never was one who relied on the platform to make a living. I still list 40 or 50 items a month; take advantage of the occasional bonus free listings and supplement my fixed income. Nice turnarounds this calendar year that come to mind: $22.50 paid at local auction for a model Chris Craft boat, sold for $420 $2.00 paid at local auction for an original watercolor by an artist from central KY, sold for $300 $1.00 paid at yard sale for a handpainted dish by someone from New Hampshire, sold for $290 $1.50 paid for a hat at Goodwill, sold for $51 $8.00 paid for a set of new medical textbooks at Goodwill, sold for $500 $12.00 paid for three pairs of shoes at Goodwill, sold for $110 $2.00 paid for QVC painting books at thrift store, sold for $105; listing the last batch tonight I'm sure there are others; but these stick in my mind (what's left of it). I still enjoy the search as much as I ever did. Next hunting spot - Saturday morning at the Goodwill in Anderson Township. I’d love to be able tovthis, but outside of a few things, I wouldn’t know a good bargain if I saw one.

November 22, 20196 yr And I will pay up on occasion. Same auction house where I bought the painting, I paid $260 for a fancy set of dishes (one of the few things in my small wheelhouse). Sold them a couple weeks later for $535.
November 22, 20196 yr Did you grow up picking or has this been a new hobby? You seem to be an ace at it. I did not grow up picking. I’ve been a junior picker since I retired eleven years ago. Once I started drawing SS a couple of years ago, I’ve done a bit more of it. And to be honest, the handy-dandy phone has helped. It’s assisted in verifying a few hunches, and just as often, saved me from spending on stuff that would have gotten me going backwards.
