I remember when Michael Jackson died, people were bidding up vinyl copies of "Thriller" through the roof, despite there being about 20 million of them sold over the years. Obviously, the Gwynn is much more rare.

And it's only worthwhile when you have a very expensive card. That and the explosion of cards manufactured in the late '80's made for a bad combination.
