1. Sheldon Clark & Johnson Central surprised some people with how well they played.

2. Matt Rose lit up the scoreboards.

Hard to really take anything away from June high school basketball. It's generally sloppy, and I mean that for the coaching and the playing.

Heard the same for the whistles as well.

That tournament has lost too much luster from it over the years to take anything away from it. Schools that are less than 50 miles away refuse to participate in the tournament is what I take away from it.

Seems like the only schools attending are in two buckets: 1) are located far enough away that they aren't experienced enough at KBA to know how poor the officiating is; and 2) are there as a matter of convenience only. If there's any other available option, then many schools aren't attending.

Thanks for the response, and from the composition of the field, I definitely see where you are coming from.

Maybe a better question is: what other alternatives are there, what differentiates them, and/or how did the teams who elected to go there perform in those?

Alternatives:

Boyle County planned to host multiple schools at Boyle County before the floor mishap. 12th Region referees were set up to be the refs at these games. Would have been JV/Varsity games, 3 days a week from 6pm-9pm for a total of 3 weeks.

I think more and more schools are doing things like that. It would have been a great fundraiser for the Boyle County Boys Basketball Booster club.

Georgetown Team Camp, Transy Team Camp, Asbury Team Camp. Centre usually has a team camp also as other alternatives.

I think the Louisville area has a weekend tournament or something like that as well.

Really would have liked to seen that happen at Boyle.

Little factoid for everyone, the director of the KBA is on the KHSAA Middle School Athletics Advisory Committee. He was deemed to be the "State Representative for Middle School Basketball."

Would love to hear more about how the Louisville schools did.

Still mad over the gym floor at Boyle Co. Has anything even happened to the students involved in this?? I know they didn't mean for it to happen but it is totally unacceptable to me. As far as the KBA state tournament I would take absolutely nothing from this. If I was a coach I would never send my team to KBA due to the horrendous officiating.

What happen with the floor?

What happen with the floor?

Senior prank accidentally ruined a section of the floor. The whole floor will likely be replaced before school begins.

Wow. That is bad going to cost a lot of money it sounds like to me.

I was there at KBA. I noticed June Buchanan had some new faces. Did they come over from Cordia?
