June 9, 201412 yr I've had Direct TV since 2000. I initially got it because Insight Cable was going to charge me $200 to install cable jacks (my house was new). I also saved quite a bit in my monthly bill, but now that I have 4 tv's, 2 DVR's, and lots of channels, my bill is now pushing $150/month. I'll be dropping HBO once True Blood ends and I'll pick it up for free in time for Game of Thrones to start back. I rarely have signal issues, and I recommend spending the extra few bucks for the protection problem. I find most of the signal problems I've had are a result of the dish getting misaligned by storms/wind, and the protection plan covers someone coming out and repointing your dish. I still rely on cable to get internet (I dropped Cincy Bell because my service was terrible) which I'm not totally thrilled about, but I'll manage. My company partially pays for my internet connection anyway, so it's not a huge deal. I can't ever see myself switching from DTV....service is good, programming is great (NFL) and if you call they typically will throw discounts your way if you just ask.
June 9, 201412 yr Had it for several years now, much better than Dish which I had previously. Bill is getting too high though, I need to call and try to get it lowered. I agree 100%. I was with Dish for like 10 years and Direct is much better.
June 9, 201412 yr DirecTV is the best option for sattelite, but its still far from perfect. I have spent several hours on the phone with them in the last week trying to get an issue worked out.tIt's still not resolved, but I am tired of talking to them so its gonna stay the way it is until I get some more free time. If your switching from regular cable you should be more than happy with it though. As far as internet goes, I went with DSL.
