The problem with the sports park is that they fields are great, the rest of the amenities, not so much.

 

Not a lot of seating, not a lot of parking, no way to control a gate for admissions.

 

We Hosted an FBU playoff game there and it was chaotic at best.

From the website, the place looks pretty sweet.

I was going to say that the amenities shouldn't be a big deal since it's about the fields that the girls play on...

BUT, I can also envision the # of threads/complaints about seating & parking far out numbering the complaints about temp fences..

AllenR...I personally agree with you, however the reality based on past and current situation leads me to wholeheartedly believe the KHSAA decision has absolutely nothing to do with the fields the girls play on, and everything to do with the perks and facilities on the side of the fences where the dirt ain't.

If the fields and facilities for the PLAYERS mattered, it would NEVER be played at Fisher Park. Period.

Not sure seating at Elizabethtown is an issue. Elizabethtown Sports Park has more seating than Buchanon, Skyview, Frankfort, Fisher or Tiebreaker.

 

Parking IS an issue. At least it is all paved (unlike Fisher). No parking in grass, at all, at Elizabethtown. But softball/baseball complex can/is a bit of a hike from Football/Soccer overflow lot.

 

Wi-Fi is NOT an issue at Elizabethtown, at least when it is turned on. When turned on, it works great.

 

As far as doing tickets, Elizabethtown has routinely closed off secondary entrance (St. John Road), meaning you have to use West Park. A lot easier to run tickets this way. Have been told if E'town had landed KHSAA state softball, NO other events (walking, soccer, football, lacrosse, youth baseball) would have happened same weekend. Meaning ONLY reason to be at Sports Park would be for softball. Meaning if you go to Sports Park that day, you're paying for softball.

 

Issues for E'town:

- Parking at main softball lot (buses would have to park at football-soccer lot, so would many fans)

- No air conditioning in bathrooms

- Hard to watch games from concession stand line

- No press box (biggie for KHSAA personnel, scorekeeper, statkeeper, announcers, person assigned to watch/rate umpires and the media itself)
