Baby face will not cause a kid to be overlooked. Those guys wouldn't have jobs if that were the case. As someone said, youth is an asset as they can project out the curve as a player matures.

They would have offered him off of his film if they really liked him. Camps are for kids who's film don't convince the coaches. Now, you can earn an offer at a camp but very few will stand out to that level. Moreover, Ohio State is only after the cream of the starred kids. Don't be discouraged...you have to pimp your kid shamelessly. But, be smart about it. Get a good trainer and work to improve his perceived deficiencies and then go at it again. But, be realistic Ohio State is after 4 and 5 star kids. Those are rare. Plenty of good schools out there. Email or call the coaches...you need to get information on their needs etc. You can do this yourself. Don't waste your money on a recruiting service.

He runs a 4.8 shuttle. There are plenty of OL kids with offers that don't run it this well. His face screams boy and not man. Time and hard work is the only cure.

 

You are kidding yourself if you think his facial apperance is causing him to be overlooked. For whatever reason he isnt projecting. If he is already 310, and not mature, my guess is that weight is a deterrant. What will he be when he does? What will that do to that shuttle? In this age of spread offenses, 310 lb linemen exist, but on fully mature grown men who carry that weight. I agree with your assessment about physique. Gotta get him down about 30lbs. Elite schools want the 6'5 250/275 lb kid whose body can hold the weight when in a rigid S&C program. Recruiting is a tough game. I am playing it right now, just in baseball. I see kids getting offers and committing who in my eyes are no better than my kid, yet we have only a few inquiries. Ask the coaches directly, dont take a service or newspaper . They arent the ones whose livelihood depends on evaluating these kids. I asked, and was told. I didnt like it, but at least i know where he stands and can focus on schools that he projects to.

I suspect the issue is his tape is just not convincing. He played last year through a back injury which, I believe, makes him appear slower than what he is. That being said, he has had tremendous camp season with out a lot of results. Several programs have said they want to see his senior tape. By then, most of the scholarships at d1 will be gone.

 

I could see him having an opportunity in the last week or two during signing day when kids start flipping, but, who wants to be in a program where you are 8th or 10th choice for a position?

I don't believe if they want to see his senior year tapes it will be too late for DI etc. Many D1 schools will still have scholarships left after high school football season is about over. Also there is always grey shirting possibilities as well.

 

The best advice I can give you is don't think something needs to be done yesterday, just sit back and relax and let it all play out. If it was meant to be it was meant to be.

 

How are his grades? That can also help if his grades are really good and he has a good ACT score, he can always be a preferred walk on and get his scholarships to the DI school through academics as well. It gives coaches more options.
