MNCN, I can say has been a long time GRC supportor in all sports. I will say he has a very busy schedule. I am sure the new coaching staff would give you the info . Will be looking for your updates.

My doctor and I had breakfast at Waffle House early this morning. Ribs are slightly bruised but fine. She suggested that I stay away from BGP for a while.

 

She has connections to the football program. Team is slowly putting the plays in. Nothing this July she said so she thinks that means no 7 on 7 games.

 

She did not know about scrimmages or offensive or defensive schemes. She did say that GRC hired a new trainer after Daniel Givens moved back to Ohio. He will be missed.

Information about Anderson County football field

 

Talked to one of my contacts last night. He said at the end of the season last year the field was a complete mess. It's a Bermuda field so the winter of course didn't do it any favors. He said he was on it last week and it was just horrible. With that said, he did not know and had not heard of the team not being able to use the field for games this fall...he also said if that turned out to be the case (not using the field) it wouldn't surprise him. He is trying to find some more info today what/if anything is certain. There has been nothing in the local paper and nothing on the school's website indicating any issues. My guess is the field will be used initially, and if it turns out it's unplayable/unsafe changes will be made then. I just can't fathom that they would not use the field without giving it a try first. There's also over a month before the first game, Aug 29th, so there is still time to work on the field. Both scrimmages they have scheduled are away, with GRC being their first scheduled home game the 29th.

 

Also, the Collins game is listed as a home game on Andersons schedule, not sure what Collins' schedule shows.

 

As for moving the middle school event, I was told moving middle school and freshman, even jv games off the field is not unusual since they have 4 teams using the same field and it can get chewed up pretty quickly. If the field is in bad shape right now, seems to make sense to probably do that.

I also heard that GRCs field is a mess.

 

I am going to take a look at the field today.

Riddle is aware of the team’s tradition that links back to the state championship campaign in 1991 and wants the community to become involved with the program and desires to produce a product that unites the team with the community.

 

“You always want to build on tradition and include people in the community,” he said. “This is a situation where obviously it’s not about me, but it’s about the kids, but also about the community, bringing everybody in together (where) everybody can rally behind.
