Garrard County 2014

Featured Replies

What does Garrard County need to do to improve in 2014? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

Garrard should be pretty good. Should have a lot of playmakers coming back...

How are the players responding to Coach Perrys style.....Hows numbers

I pull for Garrard but have a feeling it is going to be a tough slope to climb with Scenters gone and so many area teams about to have a bit of a resurgence around them. By no means is this a reference on recruiting... but a general observation on how a talent pool flows. One or two middle school kids or kids with an athletic pedigree relocating prior to High School can turn into 8 quality players missing from a roster.

Going to be very important for Perry to keep enthusiasm in the community and establish Garrard is not going anywhere.

Numbers are not were they should be, but it is a talented group. 2013 Team was dominated by Juniors and Sophomores. Skill positions will be solid.

Lost Williams and Penman at RB's, but several returning to fill their shoes and Jalen is back from injury. The O-line will be strong; lost Simpson and

Rector, but Perry's son will be a replacement and their is an opportunity for someone to step up. The O-line will definitely be a strong point. Defense

will be solid. Like everyone else, the key will be keeping them healthy......

It has been my observation that you really can't tell a lot about numbers in the Spring. Freshmen haven't arrived, yet, and you also have track and baseball. In small schools, that means up to half of the roster sometimes. Then you factor in injuries.

Especially in a program with a new coach... and I don't think Garrard has had huge numbers most years have they, JW?

Plus, Coach Perry's intensity, alone, is worth at least one win against a team they "shouldn't" beat, IMO.

Will be fun to watch this team. Cant wait for season to begin. Perry will have this team ready to roll

Havent talked with JP since he left DHS in March, but I did go to 7 on 7 tonight. They didnt have many kids and someone told me they only had 2 seniors with them tonight. From what I could tell they could be pretty good if they stay healthy.

To me, only 2 seniors at 7 on 7 is not a huge cause for alarm... That seems to say to me that they probably have more seniors on the line, right?

The line is almost all seniors, I believe. Maybe one junior? The skill kids, which basically makes up a 7-on-7 roster, are almost all from the junior and sophomore classes.

Squad will number in the 40-45 range. This will be a good season for the Lions. Look for them to be much stronger than 2012 and 2013 if they stay healthy. Current junior class may be a more talented group collectively than the junior class that lost that tough semi-state game to Belfry in 2011.
