Spurs have the revenge factor going for them and will at least be capable of throwing out combinations that match Miami's bench production (where the Pacers just haven't been).

 

Thunder are more capable of matching up with Miami from the perspective of talent and star power. They are more likely to ride Durant and/or Westbrook to win a game that they maybe shouldn't have. They are just as likely to see Westbrook shoot them out of one that they'll really have no alternative but to ride it out as part of the "Russell Rollercoaster". You play him, take the good with the bad, and learn to live with his mistakes.

 

 

I don't really think that the length of the previous series might effect the Spurs in the way that most do. They are an older team who might be worse sitting around for a few days and stiffening up, especially if it comes off of a period where they've been red hot.

 

I do think that one guy on the Spurs who could really use the rest would be Ginobili, but at this point, he looks so broken down that I don't know if you could give him a month to heal and hope that he'd be able to be a factor for seven straight. As I'm typing, he's killing it in Game 5, but this has been more of the exception than rule.

 

If we're talking other injuries with either of them, Ibaka is poor day of recovery and Parker a tweaked hamstring away from being a non-factor, and that's going to be a huge deal.

Not saying it can't happen, but the last time the Heat lost 2 straight playoff games was 2011-2012. They lost 2 in a row to Indiana and 3 in a row to Boston that year, but those losses came when Chris Bosh was injured.

 

History isn't looking good for the Pacers, but when it comes to Indy, it's probably safer to expect the unexpected.
