South outcoached and outplayed the hounds tonight. Corbin cut a 30 point lead to 12 or 13 when they went to man late. It appears that they stayed in the zone too, too long. South took what Corbin gave them and shot the lights out.

 

Congrats to Corbin and South Laurel on moving onto the region. Both teams are threats to everyone in the region including each other. Its tough to beat a team three times and even tougher to beat a team 4 times.....look for a rematch in the finals.

 

What was the deal at the end of the game when south subbed for a free throw shooter. He was not injured at least it appeared so, but the refs allowed the sub to enter. A bit odd.

 

Because that it what Wright wanted, he had two of the refs so intimidated

they almost completely missed the game.

It wasn't odd, Jordan Hammonds got hammered again which hurt his hand again. That's common. When you have an njured player, you're allowed to do that. Nothing odd about that.

I don't think Corbin got outcoached, I just think South has more weapons.

Good effort from Corbin by not quitting though. That just goes to show you how hard working of a team Corbin is.

He was not fouled hard on either of those two. One he did a flop on and was not touched, that is when he fell on his wrist and on the other Crawford fell over top of him and he got hit in a bad area when he did.

I will say this: there was NOTHING controversial in the game that would have changed the outcome. Both team's played hard and should be congratulated for their effort.

I liked Tony Pietrowski's style tonight. He had the Bruce Pearl suspenders on tonight. I know he can't wear the Orange Coat but maybe he should call up ol Billy Hicks and get him a Red Jacket for region to go with those red suspenders.

Tony is a BIG UT and Pearl fan and I thought he looked very classy tonight. He's a classy guy and a good coach.

South kid shouldn't have got a technical...when the refs let it get physical like that on both sides that's just the way it goes.

The Cardinals dominated throughout and did a good job against Corbin. South went to a stall-type offense in the final eight minutes and to the Redhounds' credit they didn't quit.

I picked Clay to win the region, but after tonight, I'm going to do a John Kerry and flip-flop.

Hammonds led the way for South with 25 points and hit 5 threes. Ty Proffitt had 18 and David Goodin had 12.

The scary thing is Walt Allen had onl seven points and the Cards led by 31 going into the fourth quarter.

Josh Crawford turned it up a notch in the fourth and led his team with 20 points.

I agree, Corbin would've beat the rest of the 13th teams tonight. They didn't play bad, as crazy as that sounds about a team that fell behind by 33 points at one juncture.

The Refs needed to call it closer, it would not have changed the outcome but it would have prepared them for what they will see when they both travel to Clay County next week, when if they breath too hard on a Clay player a foul will be called.....heck depending it would not surprise me to see Crawford for Corbin or Allen or Proffitt get off their buses with two fouls.....LOL

I agree with the idea about the game being favored towards SL by the officials but by no means did it make the game have a different outcome. I think they had a quicker whistle when Corbin was on D than when SL was but like I said, the game would have still had the same result. I wouldn't say Wright had them intimidated but he definately knows how to work the refs and juice them for all they will give. That's what makes him a good coach.

I would think an ideal draw for the Hounds would be to play Bville, Cawood or Bell in the first round, and one of those three playing North in the first round with two winners meeting in the semis. The bad thing about that is it would mean Lynn Camp would draw Clay or South in the first round.
