How'd they do in bracket play?

 

They lost in the Sweet 16 of the Platinum Bracket to the Iowa Barnstormers 79-67. Pretty much a one-two possession game in its entirety, but NKY Elite could not get over the hump.

Was there a McNeil that just graduated from Cooper? Zach?

Zach Mcneil did graduate from Cooper, Sean is his younger brother who saw significant Varsity minutes as a frosh at Cooper this year. I think he was injured mid-season as well but has rebounded well it sounds. Congrats to this young man on the 45 pt outburst!!!

The backcourt of Crawford and McNeil is really tough. Throw in JC Hawkins (SK), Luke Moeves (NCC), and Cole Hegyi (Campbell Co) and you have 5 guards that know how to score.

Two wins to start the Eddie Ford, without McNeil and Hawkins. Great team effort. Hamm is a solid coach, gets the best from his players.

They beat a very good Ohio Unity team to advance to the gold bracket at the Eddie Ford. Coach Hamm gets the best out of his kids. Can't wait to see him coach at the college level.

NKY Elite 2017 has had a great year, but this past week at the Eddie Ford Hoopfest might have been the most impressive. With a limited roster due to injury, this group won a tough pool and advanced to the Gold Bracket where they eventually fell to a really good Cincinnati Royals team by the score of 57-50. They trailed 51-50 with a minute left and could not get the ball to drop.

 

JC Hawkins went down in their first pool game with a torn ACL and Mason Gambrel did not play due to a stress fracture in his back. Cooper Scherr and Aaron O'Hara were both absent due to football. This left the team with 7 guys and not a lot of scoring. I have watched a lot of basketball over the years, but absolutely love watching this group of kids and coach. Coach Hamm and those kids seem to really respect one another and really care about each other. The way they battle each possession against more talented teams is what it's all about.

30-8 on the year and 3 championships is pretty impressive. But it was a sad day as coach Hamm informed the kids he has taken a position in Florida and would no longer be able to coach them in the future. I wish Hamm all the luck in starting his career. It just won't be the same seeing my boy play for a different coach.

Asst Coach at St Leo University in Tampa Fla, solid D2 school made the tournament the last few years. Hamm will do well there, great teacher of the game. Hate to see him leave the team. Be interesting to see where all these kids go. Good luck Coach Hamm.

Its not that easy. Even with his KY connections he couldn't get a job he wanted. Most colleges take care of their own first. Like Bezold hiring his ex PG and even Kelly Wells hired one of his own players. To get to the D1 level you want to take an opportunity that will help you advance. I believe this was a good move for Hamm.
