The Tomahawk website often has faster info on Beechwood than any other source and it ends up as the first bit of results on BGP. It's not to slight other Beechwood players. The Tomahawks have 3 players on Beechwood just like they have 3 players on Moeller and many other high schools in the area. That is why the Tomahawks are often mentioned in the same breath as Slusher, Stringer, and Combs. I wish there were more sources that put out reliable HS baseball results in a timely manner.

 

By the way, I don't see your point as to why it matters what summer team someone plays for if he gives up a "grand salami" in a big game. He was a ninth grader for crying out loud and still learning every day. He was very instrumental in BW getting as far as they did last year.

I agree, and did last year too. That kind of talk can actually hurt a "team". Weirdly I don't think it is a relative of the three players making all those comments. One of the Tomahawks last year gave up a grand salami to a non-Tomahawk player from Dixie in the semifinals of the region and away went the Tigers dreams of winning the region.

 

So let me get this straight. A bunch of old guys talking about a game and players caused a player to give up a HR? Thats too bad, had no idea. If you are somehow implying those kids are selfish, you couldnt be any further off base. Again, its a twitter feed for the love of god. They do it for all their kids. Shockingly, they typically dont tweet it when a thawk goes 0-4 or gives up a GS, but they dont need to. You can't have it both ways. It's ok to point out how great the kid is as a 9th grader and all this talk about possibly being drafted out of high but other can't point out things that don't go well in his favor?You want to chalk it up as, he's a freshman learning everyday? WOW

I'm with Big Cat on this one, it was DAYTON!!!!!!!!!! Not to say, these kids aren't solid ball players. Me personally, the one who makes the car run is schukak...

You need to read my post more carefully. Where do I talk about him being drafted and how great he is? WOW! Are you harboring some hate or jealousy against a bunch of kids? A big deal was made because a Tomahawk gave up a big hit to a non-Tonahawk. Wrong! A Tiger gave up a big hit to a Colonel who was one of many very good players on his team. By the way, these are high school kids and they should all be learning everyday at this level whether they are being scouted or not.

I agree that Suchanek is the complete package on the BW team. He will provide the Senior leadership that will be needed in tight situations and there will be some during the season. I am not too excited about hanging 27 on Dayton or the 14 on Ludlow. Those games have to be played. I was more encouraged by the 13 hung on New Cath and the 18 on a sound New Richmond, OH squad. BW will score runs in bunches but do not expect it every game.

It's all good. I agree on the recognition part. Until there is better HS baseball coverage we will have to live with the initial reports from the Tomahawks until others catch up......if they do. A lot of kids at the HS level get scouted. It's unusual for the level of talent we are seeing existing in one HS class especially the Sophomore class that is at BW right now. They get talked about often because of their talent at a very young age. We and they will have to deal with it for the next 3 years. I hope they all keep their focus and a level head and are rewarded with the fruits of their labor and talent. Oddly, some of the other talented BW players are getting more exposure than normal. I talked with a scout last year who really liked a BW player that he had not come to see.

Every sport, every team has this happen. The outstanding players suck up all the air in the room so to speak. Luckily the ones who count know what they have in those types of player.

Tell you what I will do. Since we live in the world where everyone gets a trophy, I will call Coach Carney at Midland and see if he will start tweeting out stats of all the kids on Beechwood, not just the ones that actually play for him. Every time you talk about someone successful on this board, out come all the guys who sat the bench in HS or were role players, screaming for equality. How about some of you post stats of other kids? Yes, it was Dayton. It was on the schedule, they had to play it. Should those numbers not count? I will also ask Coach to tweet out every time one of his kids go 0fer, or give up a HR, since most of you guys live for the minute one of these kids has a bad game. And just as an FYI, they do,and inevitably comes the post "I saw so and so play one game, he is so overrated".......

That is EXACTLY right, but because there are some unrealistic people around here that have them all getting drafted in the first round (I call it the UK#1Fan syndrome)people do nothing but look for reasons to knock them down. Those are three GREAT kids, very humble and extremely hard workers, they have earned the recognition they get, every second of it. Just as Suchanek has, who is the leader of that team and the one all these kids look up to.

Because you are always mentioning the Tomahawks, if they don't matter, don't mention them. If they do, and they must, then I am pointing out a kid who probably wasn't good enough to make the mighty Tomahawk team beat him in a crucial season ending game. (oh I know high school ball doesn't mean as much as summer ball with umpires hired by the hosting club to umpire a game at the hosting club park.)
