Mets' Daniel Murphy Gets Flack for Taking Paternity Leave

Featured Replies

He basically said he should've forced her to have an unnecessary surgery so he didn't have to miss work. You do realize how dumb that sounds right?

Yeah I do, which is why I think he meant she could have induced labor Friday or Saturday. If he meant C-section it's even dumber.

The whole thing boils down to did he mistakenly say C-section when he meant induction? It is two totally different animals and I can't imagine Boomer meaning C-section. Wasn't there some talk about an NFL QB within the last two years missing a game and he said he would ask his wife and their doctors to induce on a Tuesday? Boomer is paid to give his opinions. I don't necessarily agree with his stance on this, but I also don't think it's crazy to think maybe they should have been induced Friday before the season started, if and it's a huge if, she was full term.

I applaud Murphy for taking the time to experience the birth of his child and to be with his wife at that time. For those that have ripped on him for doing so don't have their priorities straight. Family should always come first.

As for the argument of having her induced earlier, it doesn't work like that. It might if you have status and money, but after just going through the birth of my 3rd a few weeks ago, you can't just tell a doctor to induce you by 'x' date. The doctor tells you what is going to happen based on the health of the baby and mom.
