sl never asked to be moved to the 50th district either. On the other williamsburg played a good game. Tonight just wasn't there night.

I have no problem with this. In the districts it is one & done and there is no tomorrow.

 

What happens if SL pulls their starters and W'burg comes back and gains momentum and ends up winning the game? In the playoffs, there is no room for error and I have no problem with this. It would be a different story if this happened December 2nd, though.

He beat the crap out of a bunch of 8th and 9th graders, Wburg did not ask for SL to be placed in the 50th district. They have been there for 70 years.

 

I guess Coach Wright could have called the dogs off a little earlier but this is tournment time and if your top players are not getting quality minutes then they will be flat when a big game comes up.

 

Also after the game I heard Coach hanyne talking this crap about poor Class A schools can't compete with 4A schools cough*excuse*cough that is crap. I guess Hanyne can't get enoff competion in class A. O wait they got beat in the first round of the 13 region All A by Middlesboro by 45. Hanyne wants the state to go to the class system to make us a cookie cutter state Kentucky is special. I think schools like University Heights, Bardstown, and Bishop Brossart would dissagree.

Williamsburg's kids played hard, I applude their efforts. It was obvious their kids enjoyed the challenge of playing a team like South. Too bad their Coaches did not give the opportunity to play South a couple more times this season. If you compete you want to play against the best and see where you stack up. Now, sometimes we fall short, so is life. No shame in the margin of defeat. Hats off to the Williamsburg players who battled their tails off, thumbs down to the decision that said these kids could not compete against the defending state champions. They lost the game, but showed tremendous courage and pride. The players South has are just better than most everyone in the state.

Haynes should keep his mouth shut, and should have played everybody in the district. Univesity Heights and Brossart are privates, so use two other examples.

Williamsburg has some good young players. I believe that they start 2 freshman and play a couple of others and maybe an 8th grader also.

 

I can understand Haynes' frustration when you look at the makeup of the districts in the 13th region. He is in the same district with what will probably be two of the top three teams year in and year out in the region and the other school has approximately four times as many students to pick from. Then you look at the other district that he could have been placed in, it has 3 class A size schools and the other school has only won 10-12 games combined over the last 2 years.

I don't agree with what he did in not playing the district games, but he probably thought that he was doing the right thing for his kids.

I agree that W'burg should've played everybody twice. That way, at least, by the time they see Corbin or SL in the districts there are no surprises and they have a better idea of what they can get away with.
