I'm not sure about that. I think that's the case for seniors finishing their season, but with him being a sophomore I'm not sure what the rule says. If the video is as clear as the Boyle folks say, they might be able to appeal the ejection and get his future suspension reduced or eliminated.

Well, I was sitting in the upper deck and had as good of a view as you could have from the stands. I did see Elkins raise the arm to throw the punch, then connect. The ref reacted immediately and ejected him. A punch is a punch in the rule book, but that type of punch - how much worse is it than a slap or an elbow? And there were lots of those flying both ways, thus (I assume) the reason for a double technical. Much like O.K. said, I think it was a heat of the moment reaction. Unfortunately, I don't really think Elkins' actions were any more malicious than Blevins.' Just 2 kids going at it hard and it got a little out of hand.

 

What seems to have gone unmentioned is that the refs let it play out way too long before calling a jump ball. Could've (potentially) all been avoided. At least that's my opinion.

Definitely true. Could have called the jump about two seconds earlier.

The game is over and Wayne.Thats the bottom line. Elkins being ejected did change the game. But he also has to learn to handle himself and be held accountable for what he did. Just because someone hits you doesn't mean you hit back...its called being the bigger man. I cant stand bad sportsmanship. From all that I have read and heard today , it was the right call. No need to talk about this for days and days. I am sure Boyle has reviewed films and if need be will deal with it. THis kid is older than most kids on the court so he knows better. Move on to new subject!

I can see why Wayne fans would be upset if they feel that playing dirty is an approach teams have taken. On the other hand, I hope they (Jesse James) aren't implying that was the case in this game. Obviously, the punch wasn't part of the game plan. And Boyle isn't an overly physical team. If anything, and this was to my surprise, Wayne was much more physical than Boyle - and I don't mean in a bad way, they just applied a lot of pressure.

And i guess you are GOD?? Because he is the only one that knows the outcomes before they happen!! You must be a millionaire if you can predict the outcome of a game before it finishes. I guess you tell your teams no need in playing because we can't and WILL not win?? I hate what happened but it's not the end of the world, i for one didn't think Elkins had that toughness in him. Live and learn, but the video has been signed off on by the appropriate personnel at the high school and on the way to the KHSAA. Apparently everybody missed the 3 deliberate blows that Blevins hit Elkins with before Elkins blow happened. And from what i was told is he can miss 2 track meets and the suspension is over, can't verify that but i was told that. Just my 2 cents.
