Do you know what a Tardis is?

Featured Replies

If you can answer that than I'm guessing you've watched Doctor Who on BBC America.

My daughter started watching it and has repeatedly begged me to watch it with her. I've watched 5 or 6 episodes and all but 1 was pretty good. Pure Sci-Fi with time travel and pretty well developed episodes.

For those that have watched the program what do you think?

It's pretty great.

There are several fans hanging around the boards here.

Yeah so far I've enjoyed it, the episode with the stone angels was pretty good as a stand alone without knowing much about the show.

I've watched and enjoyed the last two Dr's. I'm a little nervous about this new guy. We'll see.

I'm a fan too. Tenant and Smith were both very good Doctors. I would have liked another season for Smith.

Been catching up quite a bit lately. BBC America has been airing two or three episodes each morning starting at 7 or 8am. So, each night I set the DVR to record the following morning, and then I've got something to watch when I get home from work.

Of the two Doctors...I'd probably lean a little more towards Tenant, than Smith. Although both of them are good.

As far as companions are concerned, though...it's easy.

I've been a proud Whovian since watching episodes on the local PBS station in the 80s and 90s. I used to record them on my Beta machine. All of you who like the current series really need to treat your self and watch some of the classic doctors. Tom Baker was the best but Peter Davidson and Jon Pertwee were close behind. After that I'd say Sylvester McCoy, William Hartnell, Patrick Traughton and Colin Baker in that order. I always recommend newbies watch the 25th anniversary special titled The 5 Doctors.

Oh man, to each his own but I thought Donna Noble was great. She was the only one who never had some dopey girlish crush on the Doctor and instead called him out when he was being ridiculous. (They've really gotten carried away with every woman in the universe falling in love with the Doctor in the new series.) Plus Catherine Tate is just funny.

But let's all be honest, the best companion of the new series was Donna's grandfather, Wilfred.

Colin Baker's Doctor was -- and remains -- completely ludicrous. Would have liked to see Sylvester McCoy around at a time when the show was still at the height of its powers and not just hanging on by a thread as it was through the mid-80s. Loved his version of the Doctor.

Donna grew on me but when she first started I didn't like her at all. I did love the way her stint as a companion ended though. She saved the world but must never remember doing it.

How many was Donna in? The reason I ask, is that I've only seen maybe 3 or 4 with her in it, and she's just come off as annoying to me. And Rose just had me wanting to reach through the tv and slap that silly smile off her face all the time. Can't stand her.

Peter Davidson was the first doctor I watched. I just stumbled on it one night and had to see who this British guy with the celery boutonniere was. Luckilly when he regenerated the PBS station had just gotten rights to the Jon Pertwee doctor so I didn't see Colin Baker until after I had seen Pertwee, Tom Baker and Davidson again. I only saw a few of Davidson's stories before that regeneration so I may well have been turned off by the whole thing had it gone in order to C. Baker.

According to Wikipedia Donna was only supposed to appear in the Christmas special between seasons 2 and 3. She was to be the bridge between Rose and Martha. After Martha departed they brought her back and she appeared through the 4th season. She appeared in 16 episodes.

Not a ton of Donna episodes. Second Christmas special then all of Series 4. As All Tell said, her story ends really well in the Series 4 finale. I also thought she was especially good in the "Silence In the Library/Forest of the Dead" two-parter.

I'd liked to have seen Sally Sparrow become a reoccurring character
