Any word on the defense?

Will have a lot of depth up front, they played a bunch of sophomores and juniors last year but lost Marty Brown to graduation and he had arguably the best statistical season for a d-lineman in LexCath history last season.

 

Linebackers lost Josh Mesmer the 2nd leading tackler in school history and he won't be replaced with one player. Chase Bowling will be a senior and the only returning starter, he's been a contributor since he was a freshman and is very big, strong, and aggressive. The other spots will be a competition.

 

The Hybrid spots Catholic employs will be among their strongest units. Seniors Cody Mitchell and Braxton Couch return and both make up for being slightly undersized by being very fast and aggressive players. I could see Mitchell moving positions though as he has played CB and Safety in his career with the Knights.

 

The secondary lost all 3 starters and there will be a competition for all spots. Junior Davis Rowady should probably be in the lead for one of those as he amazingly had 6 interceptions when filling in for injured players!

Being a residence in the neighborhood of LC, I have come to love and follow their program. I do agree that their defense will be just fine and have a lot of depth. I did watch a little of spring practice on Tuesday and saw that Mitchell was not in pads but observed a #43 jersey that was filling his position. I was impress with his skills. looking at the roster probably won't help you to be honest. The kids often wear random numbers for practice.

True! So my guess is with a call name " Knights " You have some insights within the program and you can research that and find out who is that kid. LOL. Also that lineman at LT tackle has some size and skills. Where did he come from? I can't remember watching him last season. He is a good 6'4 250 at least. Oh BTW I meant to say Mitchell's ball hawking and his aggressiveness, he will fit better at safety.

I believe defense wins championships, so if the defense fills those departures I think they can make a run in the playoffs

#43 is Austin Pedroche, younger brother of Jarod Pedroche. Looks like he is playing the same position that Mitchell was playing. Looks really good. Would be great to see both players on defensive at the same time. I would agree playing Mitchell in the Secondary would give the defense a big boost in defending the pass.

Thank you for the info. What year is #43? I might have to watch their spring game coming up.

Heard that Donovan Morris is no longer playing football in order to concentrate on basketball where he has tremendous potential. This is a blow as I mentioned him as a player that could step and help the WR position with the graduation of Bouvier.

One good thing is that I heard this has opened up a lot of reps for JJ Ogbogu who has responded by being one of the most impressive and most improved players of this spring.

He was the one doing all PAT's last season right? Yeah that is a lost for the receivers. Besides that JJ kid, how about that Hickey kid? Heard he has potential as well. So if I'm counting my eggs correctly, Lex Cath has Letton, JJ, Hickey, Thompson twins as receivers. Anyone I miss or up and coming from the frosh/ JV team?

6'5" Jordan Hatton

Hickey has been doing well. Him, JJ, Sam, and Hatton are the group that will probably be the starters if the games were played tomorrow but its the spring so you don't know who will step or develop until then. The Thompson twins play baseball I believe so they aren't out there right now. #80 has been playing well in the slot

Takeaway from Second week of Spring Practice:

Dominic Castlen returns at Left Tackle, Colin Carpenter returns at Right Tackle, and Noah Turbidy returns at Right Guard. With Bailey that's 4 returning starters.
