Josh just "gets it", and my guess is it would be very difficult for him to leave the situation that he has at LaRue. Would take a pretty prominent program or one that is on the rise (with the right amount of money/resources) to get him to leave.

A good situation for any football coach first and foremost is the opportunity to win games. Larue was 0-11 last year. If he has a great financial/teaching set up that is great, but that won't stoke the competitive fire for long if he is a true "coach".

I don't disagree. They were young this year and the injury bug hit them pretty hard as well. Not saying they would have a better record otherwise but not every year goes according to plan. I expect Larue to improve this upcoming season.

Disagree...that is 1A and what you do for the actual 8 hours a day is 1B. A "true coach" has the beilef that he can turn it around, make it happen, and develop what he has into something greater that they could become. That is a hecuva lot more fun than teaching 5 preps a day and killing yourself for 1 accountability point only to enjoy the 2 hours after school?? 1A and 1B in my book! Now, finding both....that is Mecca for coaches!! LOL

Add administrative support (coaches in the building, time, having your back, etc.), and I would agree. The thing is, there is really only a handful of jobs in the state with great financial and administrative support, to go along with good athletes. The rest, you have to pretty much create those things, somehow.

As a coach you can win and win big, do all the right things, build a program from K-12, but if you are in a basketball school that does not win on a regular basis, but every athlete can play for the cats, or if the right person does not like you then you will probably be looking after 3 years. Pretty much the cycle anymore. Loyalty today pretty much in non-existent in the coaching profession. If coaches do not look out for the themselves then they will be in the unemployment line. Very troubling in my opinion.
