February 14, 201412 yr They get evaluated each week and 'make' the squad each week. They get paid a small amount and get 1 ticket per game (used to get 2 freebies). They have to do community service. They know what they are getting into. If she wins I can say there will be no more cheerleaders on the sidelines. I'm almost positive the bolded isn't true. They have tryouts at the beginning of the season. If you make it, you're on the squad all year. That's according to the girl I know that is currently on the squad.

February 14, 201412 yr What are your friend's thoughts on Alexa attempting to ruin this for a lot of appreciative and deserving women? Not sure....Haven't spoken to her in quite a while. Can't imagine she likes it though.
February 14, 201412 yr What are your friend's thoughts on Alexa attempting to ruin this for a lot of appreciative and deserving women? Tough crowd.
February 14, 201412 yr Tough crowd. A one year cheerleader that knew what she was getting into that wants to take the Bengals to court. She could have quit at anytime. She doesn't have to come back next year. However, by taking this to court it could cause the Bengals and others to wash their hands of cheerleaders. I couldn't give two cents if there are NFL cheerleaders or not but they are obviously important to a lot of people. And she is Libertarian, give me a break.
February 14, 201412 yr Perhaps not every cheerleader has the same experiences, or doesn't value them or appreciate the perks quite the same. The BenGals are part of a billion dollar company, (not the USO) that use her personal image, or talents to profit or promote their brand. Sounds like the squad does some incredible charitable acts and appearances, but the Bengals directly benefit from these, and in some cases a direct financial benefit (calendars).

And none of that benefits a dancing or modeling career... I am sure Alexa never mentions the fact that she was a BenGal for any personal gain. :idunno:
February 14, 201412 yr And none of that benefits a dancing or modeling career... I am sure Alexa never mentions the fact that she was a BenGal for any personal gain. :idunno: The majority have real jobs that have zero to do with dancing or modeling. So yeah, most don't really have a lot of personal gain in terms of opening up other career paths.
February 14, 201412 yr And why didn't she quit after her first paycheck if she thought she wasn't paid enough.

February 14, 201412 yr My question regarding the lawsuit itself is, how have the Bengals managed to get around paying minimum wage?
February 14, 201412 yr Well this one is a dance instructor. Which is a essentially a teaching job. Dance instructor is a far cry from having a dance or modeling career.
