Pretty tight game thru out. Hathorn was the player of the game. Crusaders had no one to stop him inside. Bodes well for Cooper going forward if they can get that type of play going forward. Was on the receiving end of a nice oop. I thought going into the game that St.Henry had an advantage inside, but thought they got outplayed for the most part in the paint. Noble's game was off tonight and Kunstek played well, but needs to figure out how not take himself out of the game with fouls.

Zach McNeil hit a half court true jumpshot at the end of the 1st quarter that was pretty sweet. Brother Sean played a nice game. Didn't force things. A real nice frosh. Didn't see Morgan in the game for Cooper? Hurt? Think he went thru warmups.

Morgan played. As everyone knows he's not a shooter and Coach Sully made a lineup change last week to add another shooter for scoring. Morgan is still the best 1on1 defender on the team so Sully is using him where his strength can pay off and gets another scorer on the floor for the majority of the game. It's worked 2 games in a row and hopefully it continues. Good job by the senior knowing and accepting his role as a team player after starting at the PG spot for 71 games.

Good point on Conner Kunstek needing to stay out of foul trouble. He's really the only strong kid they have inside. Very competitive which you like but that can sometimes cause you to make silly fouls.

Sean does not dress JV.

However, the younger McNeil would be Chris. He is an 8th grader at Ockerman.

I don't seem to see too many coaches willing to make a change like this after a player has made 71 starts at PG. First of all, congrats to coach Sully for having make this decision if he thinks it is best for the team. It shows great leadership and shows kids nothing is ever given to you, that you must continue to earn your position. I'm sure it's not an easy decision for him. Second, congrats to Aaron for being a team player and while he may not like the decision, if he is indeed accepting his new role, he may help this team reach their goals.

 

I haven't seen the Jag's much this year but I can see where the need more scoring than defense at this point.

Agree. Too much dribbling and not enough passing.

And too many missed lay ups.

 

Cooper guards know how to pass to the inside, and are willing to do it. That's a lost art, according to Clyde. I agree.

I thought this was a disappointing game for both teams. Noble struggled for St. Henry. I have watched him play and yes I certainly thought he would be more of a factor. Cooper really struggled defensively getting beat back door on several occasions, not closing out to shooters, and not rotating defensively on drives to the basket. They didn't share the ball very well on offense. Just one of those games where you walk away with a win but know you may have stole one with a lack luster performance. Zach McNeil's jumper from just inside half court was impressive. He rose up and shot it like he was shooting a 10 foot jumper. Kid is so strong and has unlimited range. Would like to see him shoot more. Hear he is going to Thomas More. Still think he can play on a little larger stage.
