Yes, I am not sure how they are doing divisions or classes this year though.

I missed them. So that makes a 3rd new team this year.

Am I to understand that a "Boyle County" team might actually consist of players from other schools? That's a great opportunity for kids in this area to play if that is the case.

I was told by a person who is interested in getting rugby in Kentucky high schools that if 28 schools (I think that is the number) petition the KHSAA to have a sport sanctioned that the KHSAA will do so. If this is true it would seem that lacrosse has a sufficient number of schools already lined up.

I could be wrong but I think you have to have 15% approval by schools to get a sport sanctioned. If that's the case, you'd need about 42 schools to sign on, which still isn't a huge number.

Yes, in hockey that was called a 'metro' team. If the sponsering school allows it it is fine and does open the path to more playing opportunity. The Northern Kentucky team was a multi-school team. I believe one of the Louisville teams is as well.

 

An interesting fact is that now every Fayette County school does have lacrosse and it has grown to the outlying counties quickly - such as Scott and Woodford.

The new divisions can be found at laxpower.com on the kentucky high school page the KLA are going to be divided up into three team divisions.

as long as a team is varsity team by the school they can have players from other schools. Other than that they play for a club team. for example in NKY Dixie and Cov cath have varsity teams so the NKY warriors are made up of the people not from those schools. Also greenwood used to be associated with the school and now they are not. I believe they are called Southern KY LC. I also believe etwon is also a club

I know that both the boys and girls team from Collins are open to students who attend to Shelby County, however I'm not sure if anyone from SC plays on the teams.

I'd love to see the enthusiasm go statewide, but it will probably never happen.

 

The lacrosse coach at our high school is in the Lacrosse Hall of Fame. Claxton "Okie" O'Connor. I had him for 10th-grade Algebra II.
