I think deep inside, Coach Holland and his staff are glad this happened.

It doesn't get any easier for the Indians as Mason Co comes to Mt Sterling Tuesday night.

19 and 1 to start the season. Im sure that Montgomery County isnt real worried about this loss.

The 81 points should be the most disturbing. They were giving up 53.6 ppg coming into this game & the most points they had given up in a game, before this loss, was 66 to West Jessamine--an OT game.

I liked Cisero when I saw him. He's a difference maker in the paint with his length & athleticism.

That is probably all true, but this game was as much Etown playing great as it was Montgomery Co playing poorly.

 

The Panthers played unbelievable defense, and the Indians never got comfortable in any offensive sets. The Panthers handled the ball and didn't give the Indians any chance to run. The Panthers got to the basket and the line at will, and converted almost every opportunity at the line. McDonald is the of the best free throw shooters I've seen. I'd say he hit around 15-16 and the ball didn't touch the rim on probably 13 of them. The Panthers always seemed to find the open man, and that man almost always knocked down the open 3. Cotton really lit it up from downtown.

 

Etown has two very good guards (McDonald and Cotton) and a quality big man in Harding as well as several other good players around them.

As far as Montgomery Co goes, it's hard to say anyone really played well for the Indians. The team was in foul trouble almost from the opening tip, and with a few minutes to play in the first half Cisero, Jones, Hall and Wallace were all on the bench with 2 fouls. It was about a 10 point game, but with those four out, it ballooned to 20 by the end of the half. The Indians cut it to 15 with about 4 minutes left, but couldn't do any more damage.
