It was a barn burner at the igloo this evening. Dont have the stats at this time. Austin Crawford had another good game for Bracken. Brett Ruckle had just as good a night for Lewis. Hit the game winning shot at the buzzer! The refs really let them play. It was a very physical affair. Alot of questionable no calls on both teams. IMO the last shot was questionable. I had a pretty good view of it. But it is what it is. Im not taking anything away from Ruckle. He hit a very clutch shot! I just think he hit after the final horn and was on the line, at the worst it should have went to OT. On the other hand Bracken missed some freebies down the stretch that hurt them as well.

This was Lewis County's third game in a row.

Yeah it was a very exciting game for the high school bball fan. Shame one team had to lose a game like this. No team led by more than 7 (Lewis early in 1st quarter). Back a forth all night. Bracken was up 32-30 at half. Crowd was really into this one. The last minute of the game Bracken was up 67-66. Ruckel is fouled makes both Lewis up 68-67 Crawford fouled on the other end makes 2nd of 2 freethrows. Tied at 68. Lewis goes down and misses rebound to Crawford he gets fouled a halfcourt makes them both with 3.8 on the clock. Lewis inbounds and Ruckel runs the length of the court ant gets on off from top of the key. Game over. Ruckel is a great shooter! Started the game on fire kinda cooled off before the half but come out in the second half and shot lights out. Im gonna say he had 4 threes (+/- 1). Three ball wasnt there for the Polar Bears. They hit a few but not a very good % from 3 land this evening. On the other hand thats what kept Lewis in the game, and eventually won it for them.

 

 

This is the first game of a three day stretch for Bracken Co. Tomorrow night thier game aginst Saint Patrick that was cancelled last week due to illness wil be played. It is autisim awarenes night at the igloo. Friday night Grant Co. comes to town. Lot of basketball action at the igloo this week. Not to mention the freshman 39th district tounament is Saturday with Bracken frosh vs. Mason Co. frosh. Augusta frosh vs. St. Pat frosh. Its a one day event!

Second time the Polar Bears have lost a buzzer beater at home. Brent Bach & Augusta did it the first time. Now Ruckel & Lewis County.

Ruckel had 7 threes including the game winner. Great game to watch, Crawford and Ruckel put on a good offensive display the second half. Ruckel was definetly behind the arc and barely got it off, one parent from Lewis had it taped. Officiating was questionable all night long, but you can't take anything away from these 2 teams as they battled hard. Congrats Lions!!
