The turning point of the season will be after the FSU game. IMO I think we get thumped by the Winston and the seminoles. Hopefully that doesnt demoralize a young team against BC and ND.

I'll agree that Louisville is almost certainly going to get torched by the Seminoles. I think we'll know after the back-to-back road games at Syracuse and at Clemson (games 6 and 7) what we'll be able to expect from this team in the second half of the season.

I guess i could have used a different word than turning point. My point was that after FSU they have 3 games that could have a huge impact on our season. if we win 6 games going into the FSU game, we would still have a chance for a 9 win season in our first ACC season. If they lose focus and moral we could be a 6 win team.

If they can't get focused and excited to play Notre Dame and the archrival, Kentucky, then they've got some serious problems, but I get where you're coming from.

 

I think even a modest estimate suggests Louisville ought to be 4-1 heading into the trip to Syracuse. Truthfully, given that I don't know how much Miami will improve given its QB situation and that Virginia was historically awful last season, I think 5-0 is perfectly reasonable. The road game at Syracuse is where things really get going.

 

I definitely get what you mean. Given the competitiveness of the schedule and the possible margins for error, the line between Louisville being a six-win team and a nine-win team is not very large. Such is life in this new league.

They return almost everyone. Key loss is a QB who was average at best. Not saying the youngsters they'll have this year will be better but they'll hopefully be given easy reads and just be allowed to get the ball out quickly to the speedsters.

 

I can't honestly think of one person other than Morris who will be replaced this year that the replacement won't be as good (more talent, less experience).

 

Of the 3 bell cows (Perryman, Johnson, and Coley) all three return. Miami was completely different with Duke J and Dorsett who both finished the year injured. Miami looked decent vs FSU with Johnson, and got demolished without him, he's that important as a player and leader. OL loses some guys but everyone who will play has started and played alot with how much they rotate.

 

The defense should be much improved. Getting Bush back at full speed will help. Artie Burns growing up will help. The Secondary and LB core should be much improved as should the OLB/DE's who are now seasoned. DT is still a huge issue of concern. For the first time since I was in HS, the secondary should actually be a strength of Miami, which is weird to say.

They have some sneaky games in there. @Virginia is usually pretty tricky for ACC teams. Should be a win, but you never know.
