Who is rumored to have the best 2014 freshman football team this year in Nky?

I really don't know where he will end up. He goes to Woodland Middle School and was the best player hands down in the Nky Middle School League.

Woodland won the NKMSAA and was the best team in Kenton/Campbell county, even beating Cov Cath twice. By all accounts, Perrin is going on to Scott, but who knows what may happen. They had several other top players though, and pretty good size and athleticism. Probably the best incoming freshman class Scott has ever had.

If Fred Bernier is back as the Ryle Freshman coach, you will have to look out for them.

What about Cov Cath? I hear they are getting a few Boone kids and some other kids that should be going to Dixie instead of Cov Cath!

Coach Bernier is back on the sidelines? He is a great guy and doesn't get near enough credit for his run at Bellevue!

I really hope you are right because I'd love for them to be able to continue their success they had last year so it's not a one time deal.

 

Although I will always be a Cooper fan first and foremost, I always want to see the other teams in the district be competitive because it can only help eveyone else.

Well, the results are what they are. This years senior class did not have as good a record as Middle Schoolers and couldn't beat Cov Cath or Campbell County. But things could always change, and freshman ball is a long way from varsity ball, so who knows.

It's a great sign. Woodland hadn't won a Championship in over a decade, and even in the two losses they had when they had some key injuries, they were only a few seconds from winning. They were, big, fast and physical, with pretty good football IQ's. And many have played together since they were 7 or 8 years old. Hopefully the numbers will stay strong and they'll be able to play a full freshman schedule next year. Nelson Perrin is certainly the key. He is going to be special. Just an unbelievable talent.

I'm guessing your talking about Woodland, but I'd disagree they were easy to defend. They averaged over 30 points a game, and their only two losses came in the last minute of the game, giving up a big play on defense. Say what you want about playcalling, but the truth is, playcalling isn't a complicated science. Sure you need to have some variety, but at the middle and high school level, it's all about execution. It doesn't matter what play you call if your team cannot consistently execute.
