I only saw the very end of the 3rd and most of the 4th. I heard that Z McNeil scored 12 early. Give Holmes credit because other than a shot with 1 minute left in the game I didn't see him attempt one shot.

Let's talk about a couple of the plays that the announcers questioned the officials calls on.

 

1. It is NEVER basket interference when a defender hits the backboard. Never. Apparently on more than one occasion Cooper defenders hit the backboard when attempting to block a shot where a foul was called on the shot. If the official says it was a legit attempt to block the shot then nothing is called for the backboard hit. Even if the officials think it was NOT a legit attempt it's not basket interference and no points are awarded. It would be a technical foul.

 

2. At the end of the 3rd quarter Bolden drove to the rim and was fouled right before the buzzer sounded. Officials cleared the lane and Bolden shot his FTs and then the quarter was over. Logic would lead you to say "there has to be time put on the clock if the foul happened before the quarter ended. Not necessarily true. Official determined the foul happened before the horn went off. So we know we're shooting 2. However the horn did go off after the foul. Unless an official looked up before the clock went to zero you cannot put time back on the clock. How would you know how much time to put on if you didn't see the clock?

Bolden sat the final 10:29 of the first half after he picked up his 2nd foul with 2:29 left in the first quarter.

 

Give a lot of credit to Glover. He came off the bench with 9 first half points to keep Holmes in the game and then hit the go ahead 3 with Holmes down 29-27. They never trailed again. They were down 29-26 and went on a 10-0 run to take a 36-29 lead.

Zack McNeil scored his final points with 5 minutes left in the first half.
