Holmes 64 Woodward (OH) 55

Featured Replies

Agree, Woodward isn't very good this year.

As far as all of Cincinnati area, I just had this conversation with an Ohio head basketball coach on Monday. His opinion, and understand, he doesn't get to see everyone either.

1. Moeller

2. NewCath

3. CovCath

4. LaSalle

5. Middletown

6. Holmes

7. Roger Bacon

8. Lakota West

9. Elder

10. Fairfield or Walnut Hills

As an aside, he said while he wouldn't put Kings in the Top 10 right now, he said he thought many would take their roster over anyone else's for the next few years. Apparently they start a 6'7" freshman and a freshman point guard that are both outstanding, and have a couple other freshmen that will be likely varsity starters next year as sophomores.

Jaden Sayles....BIG TIME potential.

Saw him and talked to him at the X-St John's game.

Stats:

Bolden 24 pts, 3 rbs (3-6 FG, 4-7 3FG, 6-8 FT) in 22 mins.

Chames 18 pts, 9 rbs (6-7 FG, 6-7 FT) in 22 mins.

McClendon 8 pts, 3 rbs (2-3 3FG, 2-7 FT) in 29 mins

Housely 8 pts, 3 rbs (2-8 FG, 4-5 FT) in 30 mins

Hill 6 pts, 8 rbs, 6 blks (1-2 FG, 4-8 FT) in 30 mins

Team Stats:

FG: 12-25 (48%)

3FG: 6-12 (50%)

FT: 22-33 (67%)

Holmes was outrebounded 40-33.

If you're judging by the one game against CovCath, then you might have a point, but truly they have a lot more going for them than that. To some degree everyone from McClendon, Hill, Housely, Avery, Glover, Arnold, Herndon, Covington, Brolly, and Moore have contributed decent minutes giving the Bulldogs a lot more options than many might realize.

All these kids have built various levels of varsity experience that can make Holmes a very dangerous team, and seriously how many teams can boast 12 players that can realistically help the cause?

Many of these kids also play JV and their experience became all too evident when in the JV game against CovCath's JV they came out of the gate on a 12-0 run to start the game.

Only CovCath's varsity team can boast a similar amount of legitimate contributers from their bench as the Bulldogs can.

You can't judge them by one game, as their whole body of work has proved otherwise. Certainly your main guys will get the spotlight just like any team, but as they attain even more experience as a team as the season goes, you gotta like their chances with so many solid players contributing.

Thanks for pointing this out, BBF -- JV players often fall between the cracks, particularly at schools where the varsity squads make news regularly. Not only did Holmes' JV beat Woodward's JV by over 30 last night, but I'd hope folks would remember the recent Stop-DWI Holiday Classic final in which Holmes' second unit outperformed Dixie's starters for the opening eight minutes.

Rebounding is a problem for the Bulldogs. No one has come close to duplicating what Englemon did last year.

Excellent added thought to drive the point even harder. :thumb:

Chames is averaging a double double.

I believe they have only been outrebounded 2 or 3 times this year. Englemon's toughness is missed more than anything.

Bolden, Chames, Hill, and McClendon have all had double digit rebound games this year.
