Step back for Station after the way they'd been playing recently, no matter how solid Lincoln County is and how well they've played so far.

 

When they are on, Station has proven they can play with the best in the State (see: narrow losses to Lafayette by 2, Cordia by 1, PRP by 2, and Scott County by 11; see also: a win over Warren Central in WKY by 15, a win over Bardstown in Lexington by 5, a win over Apollo in Lexington by 7, a win over Woodford County on the road by 14, and a win over J-town by 7).

 

I'm ready to give them a mulligan for the Henry Clay game (a horrible 23 point loss) after Henry Clay's decent showing against Scott County last week.

 

Good win for Lincoln County, but this one was a game that was on their turf, and, all things considered, they probably should have won it. They were playing at home and jumped out a 16-4 lead after 1. From there, it looks like Station played even, as they only lost the 2nd by 1, won the 3rd by 1, and lost the 4th by 2.

 

If you told me going into the game that Marcellous Washington would only have 6, Jordan Henry 5, Daquice Allen 4, and Deandre Bradford & CJ Walker would combine for 0; (which completely excludes the fact that 2 sophomores who get little to no burn would provide nearly 20-25% of the team's point total on the night), I could have told you that this one might be a little lopsided. Claitt is a big, sort-of long kid who plays hard, but he's really out-of-control and limited in what he can do on the offensive end.

 

When Washington and Henry combine for 11, you know it's going to be a long night for Station.

 

Hats off to Lincoln County for slowing them down and doing what they needed to do to pick up the W though. Keeping the Defenders from scoring and/or withstanding the full-court pressure they'll apply after makes is not easy, and the Patriots seemed to do it well early.

 

Wonder if Station had all of their kids playing or if Bradford and/or Walker were out. If both were there and played up to 3/4ths of their ability, I'd like to see the foul count and how many FT's each team shot.

 

Lincoln seems like a really good team and might be making a strong case for the label of a "co-favorite" with Wayne County in the 12th.

Good. While the Lincoln gym is closer for me, the Pulaski gym always has a more "big-time" feel for the regional tournament.

After seeing BS play in Lexington, I can see where this is a "matchup" type of team, in the fact that they will give some teams a lot of fits with their quick, athletic guards, and on the other hand they will have matchup problems themselves with certain teams. I can see them being all over the board this year, and that has kind of proven to be the case already.
