Featured Replies

Timmy was huge and Billy did shoot and played well.........

I didn't attend the game but did listen to it via the CovCath radio and they said it was one of CovCath best games of the season.

CovCath Radio

TJ 6pts but had 7 steals and played his best "D" of the season

Timmy 19 pts

Billy 9 points? Yes Billy scored 9 pts

Dan 12

Kurt 10

A host of others scored the rest......

Big win for the Colonels.....

I predicted earlier today that CovCath would win by 15+ because they have way too much talent compared to Ryle.

13/20 from the line is a problem.

CovCath was terrific in the first and third quarters. Ryle only played well in one quarter and was extremely careless with the ball and I give CovCath credit for dominating the game. CovCath will win the 9th region if they play like they did tonight. Congrats to the Blue Colonels. You played like champions tonight.

Y'know the gap really is closing in in the 9th Region and out of the top 3 the Colonels are definitely looking like the team that has it together at the right time. They have grown considerably while the Bulldogs and the Birds have had some issues. I saw a team at the U.S. Bank Arena Saturday that looked like they were having a nice practice session preparing for their trip to Rupp. Very diciplined, organized, smart and talented bunch of spirited players. They keep this up and the region is theirs. Coach L is a GREAT coach with a GREAT philosophy and he always brings together a very respectable crew of fine young men that give the 9th Region a touch of class. They've become a team that I would now enjoy seeing in the Sweet 16 this year. They're now a well oiled machine and that's what I think the 9th needs is a smart organized team that can focus on their goals and not get caught up in other distracting issues. I say 'Go Colonels, tear it up in the 9th'! You've earned it!

Great Post BBFAN!!!

I thought also thought last night was the best game I've seen them play yet. Todd Jacobs only scored 6 pts and they won by 30 against a pretty good defensive team. To be only up by 8 around half and win by 30 is impressive.

Tim seems to be completely back after a bad injury and a stretch of unsatisfactory games.

Billy Schult was even taking it to the hole last night. Micheal Young looked good on the boards and seems to be getting his confidence back as well. Coming off the bench Sam Cahill brings size and quickness. He also has a great baseline jumper.

Danny Noll has done a great job and shut up a lot of Colonel bashers that said "they need an inside threat". Noll now brings them an inside threat and showed us last night he is also an outside threat. He is mobile and understands the pick-n-roll and backdoor cuts better than anyone. MIP in one season I've seen in awhile.

Kurt Bovard is back to playing his stellar defensive and not forcing his shots like he was early on. He is finding good shots and knocking them down when he needs too. He's also has matured alot this season and seems to understand his role on this team.

Tim, Todd, and Bo are the best back court in the region and when they press its almost impossible to beat. Ask Scott Co.

Agreed on all of them. CCH did an incredible job of making the extra pass last night. Also while DNOLL shut up the Colonel bashers, I think he also made Young, Schult and Cahill realize that they needed to start playing well or they would stop playing completely. This team is really coming together. Also Joey Landrum had a solid game off the bench.

65% is ok. Not good enough to win region, but, while you can't blame the arena entirely, I'm sure the depth perception had some affect on that. They have been solid from the stripe as of late.

CCH is on fire they are a spectacular team this year and as much as i didnt enjoy playing them i wish them the best of luck on the rest of the year.. i'm a scott high eagle fan..sorry to say but hey the losing streak is over and we're 14-11 still winning record..ill take it

CovCath games are simply no fun if the Student Cheering Section isn't there. They should have been provided a Section so they could do their thing.

 Yeah haha their section was amusing i will give you that :dancingpa :jump:

Ryle has some issues, but Maley is fairly talented.

This is the best game that I've seen Covington Catholic play in 2 years. They shot well, rebounded well, and applied solid defensive pressure. Todd did not score as much as he typically does, but I think that's a good thing. The more balanced this team is, the more dangerous they become.

Impressive performance by the Colonels. My question is this - has CCH improved that much, or is Ryle just that bad?

Look at CCH's FT shooting stats this year. Its not the arena.

Ryle seems to be more of a team of athletes than b-ballers. CCH is heading in the right direction though.

65% is okay when you're playing a team that has a record like Ryle's.

And I have never bought into the "perception", "background" and "arena" excuses. I'd guess that CCH shot well over 50% from the field, so why can't they shoot FT's more effectively?
