Andy Dalton basically had his whole season tied into one game today. Some very good plays, and some very bad plays lol

 

As frustrating as it can be with some of those picks, I do like it when Dalton is playing with the confidence he has. Even though his confidence sometimes makes him make throws he should never make.

 

Jay Gruden said after the game that the pick at the 1 yard line was a called run, but had the option to be checked to a fade depending on the coverage. Safe to say he better not allow that option next time, at least not on first down! Whats really great about this all though, is even with the mistakes the offense showed that they can do damage and score points especially at home.

 

I made a comment before the int that the fade pass was the dumbest play in the book especially in 1st and goal.

 

If that was a run play and Andy checked out of it he should be flogged in fountain square. That was a bonehead decision in his part and again showed why he can be so frustrating.

According to Gruden the play did have an option for that fade, and Dalton got the coverage needed for it so he checked to it. Which Gruden even said was dumb for Dalton to do, and admitted he was dumb for giving him that option. I wouldn't have minded that play if they did it in on 2nd down, but there was no reason to pass on 1st down when they were pounding the Ravens on the ground on that drive. So agreed that was very frustrating.

Here is the biggest issue with that fade dalton checked into. the throw itself waas horriblee, not even a fade looking pass. he din

t get it up so all the defender had to do was what he didd ddo and that wsa to get in betwen the receiver and teh ball. it was a very poorly thrown ball and paar for the coure when it comes to Dalton passes. If you are goiong to throw a fade yyou have to get the ball to where the receiver is the only one who has a shot at catching it, it was underthron and thrownn too low. Bad decision, bad pass and bad outcome.

Put it this way. If he Bengals lose to the Steelers in the 1st round, Marvin should be fired before he gets to the lockerroom after the game

One thing for sure, we will sell out next week against the steelers. They were begging people to buy tickets last week.

Maybe Buffalo can get a miracle touchdown to beat the Pats. Now that would be ironic, a choke job by Pats.

Any NFL QB should have the option to to change a play to any other play at anytime. Gruden saying he should not have given him that option on that play tells me he does not trust him. If he did trust him then he would not give and take away the option to change plays.
